Even less then 128 is fine. I have a 64 GB Adata ssd and it's more then enough for my windows 7 install and quite a few other applications that I like to keep running quickly.

Dont know where are you from but look up the amd 280x in my country it is only slightly more expensive than the 760 and the 280x is waaaay more powerfull.

The issue is with the drivers for AMD though. Also more power doesn't mean better gaming performance.

You haven't probably lately used AMD for the past 6 months people are having more troubles with Nvidia drivers.

More like ASRock is Asus. ASRock is the value branded components owned by ASUS. I have the Maximus V Formula which is infinitely better then any ASRock board. If you have the coin you buy ASUS if you want decent features at a low price you get ASRock.

These components are not well chosen,
they are not bad but you could make it better.
I build many PCs and did this very often,
you should rather go for something like this:
CPU:
Intel Core i5-4570, 4x 3.20GHz, boxed
(current Intel Platform CPU "Haswell" and has pretty good performance)
Mainboard:
ASRock B85 Pro4
(cheap mainboard but has everything you need)
RAM:
TeamGroup Xtreem Vulcan rot DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1600, CL9-9-9-24
(RAM with liefelong warranty and good timings)
GPU:
HIS Radeon R9 280X IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock, 3GB GDDR5,
(its a renamed 7970 but very silent and performs very well)
PSU:
be quiet! Pure Power L8-CM 530W ATX 2.31
(this is a good psu, offers the needed standards for your
safety and is not such a overkill like the 650w chieftec,
which has way too much W for your little system you will
maybe not even hit the 430w with this system.)
case:
BitFenix Shinobi
(good case has proven it many times)

I dont know how much you would pay for your new system but
in my country (germany) your chosen components would cost
about 780€ and the ones i recommend ca. 740€. So despite it
is cheaper it still offers more power for games.

Choose wisely :-D

Buy a better power supply. Something from corsair. The cx builder series is great. Also I wouldn't buy a z75 chipset motherboard if you're buying a 3570. get a z77 msi has some nice cheap ones like the gd65. Plus i'm not sure on the price difference between the 3570 and the 3570k but I would get the k (I have it). Even if you can't overclock you could learn with a few good tutorials. It may be a little more expensive but it'll be worth it.

It looks like you picked a processor that's not optimized for overclocking, so you're better off getting a H77 motherboard.

Your build is mostly fine. I do have some stuff to change about it though.

First, your mobo is lacking or overpowered. I would recommend getting a better suited one.
Second, I would advice for using the ASUS version of the card instead. That's provided you like to play around with the card settings. If not, EVGA is well for the task.
Third, is there really a need for special RAM? If not, ordinary RAM modules will do the job.
Fourth, Seagate is the most expensive HDD drive brand you can get. Go for Toshiba instead.
Fifth, as pointed out by others, I would recommend actually getting another brand of PSU. The one I would recommend is CoolerMaster.
Sixth, a sound card is a must, unless you don't wish to use it for any multimedia stuff, including games.

6- Sound card is optional, always. On Board is just fine for many of the gaming market. Unless you are super big on music and have a really nice 5.1+ sound system, then on board audio is fine.
4- Depends on the area and time of year. I typically see Seagate drives cheaper or on par with other drives.
2- MSI cards, the TF cooler specifically is fantastic. 2 slot card with better thermals then the ASUS 3 slot cards. Card also comes pre OC'd and can be OC'd more just as much as any ASUS version afaik.

First, you should throw away that Seagate Barracuda 2TB and replace it with monkey testicles. Second, you should get the stone from the kidney of black whale instead of ASRock Z75 PRO3. Then you gonna put the portrait of Gary Busey on the case. After that you basically only have to perform one ritual of summoning The Lord of the Darkness Melissa McCarthy to power your rig and you got one badass gaming machine!

go for AMD gfx card, its pretty OBVIOUS isnt it
all next gen games will be optimized for AMD, not nvidia due to next gen consoles

just use your brain for ONCE

It doesn't mean that all games will be running better on AMD after porting to pc.

Quite, Nvidia are taking PC gaming pretty seriously now that AMD has the next-gen consoles sewn up.

What's the budget?

-advice: I know that they are fairly popular in EU, but I'd avoid Chieftec for PSU. You can search google if you want more details.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would go with Haswell at this point. Also, I don't see any point in getting the Z75 mobo, especially with that locked CPU. It allows you to overclock but a locked CPU won't do anything. The PSU is of questionable quality in terms of powering things well, so I would suggest something more reliable such as XFX, Seasonic, Antec, NZXT (somewhat), Rosewill, etc.
