Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution - Last Stand Tau Commander is one of the prizes from the Make War not Love promotion (which has its own thread).

Just wanted to repeat it here since it is redeemed on the steam store as opposed to an emailed key.

Just FYI. I entered last week and just received my "The Last Stand Tau Commander - Make War Not Love Prize‏" email confirmation, only to find it was already free and I needn't have jumped through any of Sega's hoops.

That's probably more due to Sega getting overwhelmed and changing approaches, though.
It's less a deliberate act of messing with anyone, and more them just not planning things carefully enough. :P

I jumped the gun. I registered twice. Once with the makewarnotlove giveaway, and again with SEGA. The DLC was a giveaway for registering with SEGA. Later that day, I received a Steam key for a three game pack:

Renegade Ops
SEGA GENESIS & Mega Drive Classics
Viking Battle for Asgar

The first pack was free-on-steam.
The second you subscribed for.
The third you subscribed for. Unless you'd subscribed to the second, in which case you were set.
The fourth (DLC) you subscribed for. Until they canceled that, and made it free-on-steam, like the first pack.

Basically, just a lot of confusion on their part. :'P

But we ended up getting all the content [other than the poor people who missed timely participating in the event], so all's well :)

I looked into your profile and you don't have DoW II: Retribution, only vanilla DoW II.

I got it in email, nearly immediately after it went live.
My guess, they got backlogged and just dropped that approach in favor of the free-in-store. :)

I agree. When they first estimated 14 days to receive a key, I knew they were overwhelmed. Someone with sense made an executive decision to forgo that.

Same here, missed it by 45 minutes. They announced a waiting period of 14 days and sent an email three days later at 1:30 am with a link expiring the same day at 6 pm. :(

It's back. They realized they stopped it too soon, and made it free again:
