What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.

Just saw this was released on Steam. I've lost a great many hours of my childhood to this game, and I have a feeling a number of you have been sucked in as well.I have it on GOG already, but I know there are some of us that like steam to be the only platform.

The only reason I can imagine for a Steam release on TA is to somehow make Workshop work on it and let the players add total conversions and/or unit packs easily. (Not that it's difficult nowadays since the release of the patcher/modder tool, but my New Vegas experience showed that the average Steam user cannot comprehend the complex task of pressing TWO buttons instead of just one. I'd imagine they are iPhone owners.)

Still have the boxed Total Annihilation and Core Contingency... as to the hours played I lost count. I'm glad it made its way on Steam even though I already have the boxed originals and on GoG too, just a little bit concerned by the resolution etc. - which is why I keep an old laptop with a 13''-15'' screen around.
