Unclaimed Giveaway Flag not going away

So I'm new here (joined 2 weeks ago) but decided I wanted to try to expand my Steam library from the normal AAA 4x games I buy. I won a GA for Grey Cubes last week (my 3rd win I believe) but I made an error when hurrying to add it to my account so I could mark it off as received (I don't like to make people wit when they've been generous enough to give something). In my haste I added the game to my son's account by accident - but I still marked it as received.

Last night I tried to enter a GA for high ratio peeps and I was limited by SGTools for have an outstanding warrant...err unclaimed giveaway. The community helped me understand that it was because the game wasn't added to my account and recommended I just buy it. Tzaar came to my rescue and kindly gifted me the game.

I tried checking my status on SGTools again and it still shows me as having an unclaimed GA through the game's giveaway checker, but when I go to SGTools on my own it says I'm good. Is there something being cached somewhere? Is there a delay in syncing the database? Do I need to contact somebody about it?

TLDR - I accidentally added a GA to my son's account and got an unclaimed GA status. I have since added the game to my account but the status hasn't updated - will it auto-correct eventually?

You can manually sync in your SG account page.
Since SGTools pulls data from SG, it's likely just an issue of SG not being up to date.

yeah when I do a self check I'm good but when I try to follow Fnord's GA for Tropico it gives me a denial:

Accidents happens, at least you were willing to fix it. The site sync week, so at worst you'll be good again very soon.

Deleted it. I didn't think it was private since that was the post he made right here in the discussions group - unless he updated it to private. Still figuring my way out here :P

A private/invite only giveaway is one that you need the link to enter and as such isn't listed on the main giveaway list. These are most commonly used in the forums or for external sites . Sure anyone could have searched th forum for Tropico 5 to get the link but sharing the links for them is a big no no

Shame about the issue :( You'll be able to join my upcoming cake day GA at least (I'll have at least one GA with similar requirements, but it sadly won't be Tropico 5, I'm out of gifts for that one :( ).

Well, SGtools is not really an oficial part of SG.
Actually there's a discussion about its use going on right now over here.

Yeah I saw that. Now I feel like a dumbass. I wasn't trying to cheat the system, just trying to be courteous to the donator and instead shot myself in the foot. Hopefully it will resolve sometime unless a hand of God comes down.

There's not too many games I get excited about that I wouldn't outright buy on my own but that Tropico collection looked interesting and I always wanted to try out the series.

That's the problem with sgtools, cases like yours are not really considered by the system.
I personally think that this system is more of a problem that a solution, steamgifts wasn't meant to work this way.
I hope sgtools ends up being a fad and not the norm.

I asked a similar question to the SGTools developer earlier today and he confirmed that syncs cannot be forced in order to prevent abuse. You can contact him in private in order to have your data manually reset and fix the issue though.
