So I bought Rocksmith on offer yesterday and thought I'd get the cable from Play.com for £23 using my credit card vouchers. Annoyingly the vouchers take up to 2 days to issue, despite the fact it's an automated process!

Anyway, they finally came through and now the cable is £29 on Play.com and has gone up in price everywhere else too it seems.

Dicks. Absolute dicks. As if £20+ wasn't bad enough for a cable in the first place.

Found somewhere that is selling it at a reasonable price still.

Make sure to buy all the DLC for that game too.

Requiring a £23 cable is the dick move. That's more than enough to keep me away from the game.

Well yes, I agree, but it seems companies have now noticed a spike in demand and have raised the price even more which is a double dick move.

Especially when technically the game can work with any sound cable.

Haha, it is quite effective. Can't really pirate physical hardware.

Given the fact that there are cracked exe files doing the rounds which allow you to use a regular cable on pirated versions of the game, I'd argue that this simply isn't the case. I don't know how good these workarounds are, but they certainly do exist.

The whole thing is utter BS. I'd have bought this game in a heartbeat, but charging for the game AND a monstrously overpriced USB cable is, as Jonex correctly states, a dick move, and means they get nothing at all from me. Even if it isn't technically as good as the USB cable, they should at least ALLOW a basic line-in connection that many guitarists with PCs already use. Frankly it all sucks like a frivolous 27 minute prog-rock guitar solo...

I'm actually using the Line In trick right now till the cable arrives. It isn't the best quality but at least it works.

I'm thinking the cable is expensive because it is actually a sound-card and not just a cable...

Well, you got the game on discount. Maybe the price of the cable is temporarily inflated to address short-term demand. Give it a week or two and see if the prices drop.

Added a link to the last retailer that seems to be selling it at a normal price in the UK.

Do your research before you buy a game... or keep feeding them your money so they make more games with special hardware trololol

That wasn't the issue. He was planning on buying a cable for $23 but because the game went on sale the shop jacked the price of the cable to $29 to take advantage of a wave or people wanting it.

SteamGamesSales tracks the price of physical cables and peripherals now? Or did you just not read the OP?

Got it for $23 off ebay. If they ship to Croatia, they probably ship to UK, too.

Wild question appears/pops:
If I have a pc with usb3 ports on the back and I put a wild, random and undocumented female-male "enlarger" XD to have a usb port on the table (through the hole XD) next to the screen, speakers and that stuff, it will still be usb3 or will be hat random and undocumented speed??? Many thanks in advance. Please if you add sex jokes try to do them better than mine, the question is serious, I mean, I want a tech reply.
