So, I got a 20 dollar Steam gift card and can't decide which game I want more. Sang-Froid is complete, but looks like there's a lot less content to it - it's more of a story game than game game. Kenshi is VERY incomplete, but word on the street is that you get dozens of hours even with that, and updates are constantly coming out. Has anyone here bought both and can say which one is more enjoyable/the biggest bang for your buck? Are the flaws in Kenshi too much since it's still in alpha that I should wait a few more updates and get the completed Sang-Froid?

And don't say it's apples and oranges. Big Rigs and the original Mass Effect are two completely different genres, but I can say with one hundred percent certainty that ME is a better and more enjoyable game.

I'd say get Kenshi. I don't have either, but Kenshi appeals the most to me.

Sang-Froid, Kenshi isn't great in its current state. I own it and certainly wouldn't put much time into it as the game is right now. Wait till it comes out before buying it.

Kenshi's alpha state is both a pro and a con, honestly. I bought Don't Starve back in December when it was much less completed, and I ended up going back and playing again nearly every update, which made me play it a lot more than if I waited and bought it when I came out.

I did the same with Planetside, but those are different types of games from Kenshi. Doing this will work well with games that are easy drop-in/drop-out which Kenshi is not.

Now that is a very good point.

Get a expensive game on sale, is better to spend money on this.

The thing is, I want both of those games, this is a giftcard and not my money, and neither of those games are likely to go on sale any time soon. In fact, Kenshi is going to go UP in price as it gets more updates. I'd rather pay a bit more for a game I really want than just get an expensive game I only kind of want simply because it's on sale.

If you like buy it, but I suggest you buy these game only on sales, for me they are really overpriced.

I'm 7 hours into Sang-Froid & am about half way through the calander of the first character. While there is quite a few skippable cut-scenes the game does have alot of deepth to it gameplay-wise. It's an unique blend of strategy / TD & 3rd person action with RPG leveling elements - it's great fun! I highly recommend checking it out.

One of my main concerns with Sang-Froid was its length. I figured I'd get more time out of Kenshi even if I only play it in its half finished state, but if I take about the same time as you, thirty hours is pretty respectable.

I share the same concerns as you with regards to Sang-Froid - I really don't want this experience to end! :D My impressions thus-far is it seems well worth the modest price for an independant title. I'd guess (based on my current pace) it's maybe about 14-18 hours to beat it with the first character - I think the second character has different attributes & is a more diffircult setting. So you could maybe get a solid 25-35 hours out of it - which is pretty decent.

To be frank the dialogue is a bit cheesy @ times - however it's a relatively compiling story & the combat is a bit finicky @ times - yet it's still helluva lot of fun! & a unique experience.

After watching a WTF on Sang-Froid, I wanted the game even more. What I understood is that the game is much more punishing than I thought in terms of planning error to consequence.

Yeah it can be @ times, yet it's still a good system - if you complete some of the objectives druing a night & then fail or die you still keep the xp gained for completing objectives. & if traps that cost money aren't triggered they remain until used indefinitely.

One thing I'm having trouble with is saving enough dough to purchase weaps - like trying to skip lower tier weaps for more powerfuly ones - so my advice to anyone picking this up is level Lamberjacking asap & try to get by nights with minimal traps.

Yeah, saw that from the vid, but didn't know about the traps staying there until activation, a very good and logical move.

TB's WTF vid? - he so funneh like... fails the second mission, which is tutorial stage! To be fair this game is balls hard in places...

Yeah the trap system is fair - if ye over-trap or missplace a trap & it's not used it will carry over into following nights.

I own Kenshi and have recently played a little Sang-Froid. Obviously Kenshi when completed will be a much deeper game but that may take year(s). I bought it ages ago and haven't played it for a couple updates (so I might be a little out of date) but it is a fun game as is. If you're looking for a game that you can sink 20+ hours into right now I'd probably get Sang-Froid as Kenshi does get a bit frustrating in its incomplete state. Both are great games and I doubt you'd regret either purchase in the long run.

I'm really hoping Sang-Froid does well and they end up making a 2-player Co-op expansion/sequel =P
