heres how you can request your own key for the game

EDIT: It seems that all emails sent so far will need to be resubmitted by adding additional informations that will be wrote down in details a bit later on this day (to make sure that only eligible people get a key) so watch out for the group announcements. Dont send your email unless they post the correct infos you need to include to make sure you get it

EDIT2: Apparently you will need to download some sort of software which will check your steam id in order to give you a steam key (will be avalaible next week apparently) Once again, making things more complex when they could have just made a simple website with steamid login and thats about it. Go figure...

Done, thanks for the info. Though I am not sure how well this will work out. This way anybody could send them a mail after having a look at the member list, right?

No, you need to post in the group announcement if you actually want a key.

Thanks for your answer. Are you referring to "Give your name in the group when you send the email."? If so it seems I misunderstood them as I thought they want us to send a mail with our username.

at least they better make sure their software is not a freakin keylogger malware in any way otherwise hell will be on earth for them

Sure, I'll report them if there is any sign of spyware.

I'm also wondering how safe their client will be. A bit of reverse engineering and/or logging network access and you know the source of their keys. Or all of them...

i hate how they pull this shit. they say vote, but then LATER slip in the 'requirement' to subscribe to the group, leaving some of us shit out of luck.

you always had to be member of their group to begin with at first place

You know it's impossible to track who votes, right? There had to be some other requirement like post a comment or join a group, there always is. If you missed it, it's your own fault. That's a perfectly reasonable requirement.

Making people download some strange executable isn't though.

He has a point there, you go his way or do it your way?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sure, but asking a customer to do work for him is not the right way! If you are able to develop some kind of game, it's not hard to write a simple PHP web page to communicate with Steam API and your key database. Just a matter of if statements.

I agree that it could be easier doing it via a website, but, whatever. I'm easy & happy to wait. People should respect the developers decision to do it the way they want.

thats not the main isssue but the way the dev is acting as if we should be grateful that he gives out keys for the game to which it was promised for voters

To be honest you should, I mean this isn't really a shit game.

He explained why he couldn't do it though. He isn't much of a web developer. If you want/can help him, then do so and have it your way. He pretty much gave you the best short cut available.

I seem to have been kicked from the group, and I'm almost certain I joined it to begin with. And I remember being kicked from a group a few weeks ago for no reason, I'm just not certain it was this group. I have an entry in my web history where I viewed the group page twice, on 08/06/2014. Most likely the others saying they didn't join the group also got kicked. The devs only want to give keys to people in the group, and if a whole lot of people got kicked, those people won't get keys.

Can anyone post the email address we were supposed to send details to? The announcement was deleted and I would really like to contact the devs to find out what the hell is going on.

there isnt any email adress now, everyone eligible will have to login through a site which will check your steam id and give you a key accoridngly (at least last time I checked thats the possibility oor installing a software which will attribute you a steam key

its becoming a bit messy tbh

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No offence, but you're complaining over nothing. You're turning a pile of dirt into a mountain. How is it messy? Isn't a website what you wanted?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I know, he seems to be unhappy with any action the developer takes.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I know this, but it'll be checking for those in the group. As far as I know, there is no way a developer can check the list of people who voted. So those who got kicked from the group will not be on their list and so won't be able to get a key.

What I'm asking for is anyone who got the email before it was taken down to post it so those of us not in the group can ask our questions. Those who are in the group can ask questions there, but unless you're in the group, you can't post.

Is it a terrible reflection of my state of mind that I misread the title as "foreskin uprising"? I mean with the kind of games getting greenlit, it'd not be completely irrational...
