Im looking for bad (as in cheap, not much plot, maybe badly done) scifi movies. For example "final encounter" (also known as "for the cause"), "convict 762". Can you recommend any, please? (Pleasedont recommend "Voyage to prehistoric planet","Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women" as I have seen them already as well as original movie.)

The Mystery Science Theater 3000's are pretty good, there's commentary throughout it though, not sure if you'd want that.

Any of the sequels to Starship Troopers, as well as the first one compared to its source material.

Barbarella is campy as hell.

Why not just watch MST3K and find those movies?

Also have a look at forbidden planet. Not necessarily bad, but it features 'robbie the robot' and a young leslie nielsen in a 'serious' role.

Of course the SFX are totally cheesy but I kind of enjoyed Starship Troopers 3 - but part 2 "Hero of the Federation" is among the 10 worst movies I´ve ever seen.

There's that shitty one with Jason Statham. Ghosts on Mars, I believe it's called. It's REALLY BAD. Then there's always "the classics": Flash Gordon, most of the old Star Trek movies(yes, even Wrath of Khan), Starship Troopers, Robocop 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3, Street Fighter The Ultimate Battle(if you can consider it a sci-fi), Cyborg, A.I, Waterworld. Some more recent ones: Cowboys and Aliens, ALL The Transformers movies, The Host, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(The Jonathan Liebsman/Michael bay version), Battle Los Angeles, Battleship, U.F.O, Ender's Game, the new Robocop, Star Wars 2 Attack of the Clones(FOR SHAME), Iron Man 3(super-hero movies are sci-fi too), Gamer, Sucker Punch, Doom, all the Resident Evil movies after the first and second, the 2 Matrix sequels, Battlefield Earth, War of the Worlds and..of course, how can I((or anyone) forget the greatest sci-fi turd of probably the last 2 decades, the absolutely "amazing" After Earth. But none of these are cheap, they actually had great budgets, which made their horridness all the more painful. You want cheap? Just go watch some shitty Sy-Fy Channel movies like Sharknado or Birdermic or some pathetic, laughable Asylum movies like Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark, Transmorphers, Almighty Thor or...whatever.

Here's some great sci-fi movies to balance that awful list i gave you: the first Star Wars trilogy and Revenge of the Sith, most Marvel movies, Watchmen, Elysium, Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Pacific Rim, J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movies, 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Terminator series , the Predator series, 12 Monkeys, Surrogates, Avatar, various Planet of the Apes movies(first two of the original series, Tim Burton's remake and the newer reboot), Blade Runner, Robocop 1 and 2, Serenity, Dune, Children of Dune TV mini-series, Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies, The Amazing Spider-Man, most Batman movies(Burton's and first 2 of Nolan's), Man of Steel, Superman I and II, Gattaca, Armageddon, Minority Report, I Robot, I Am Legend, first two Men in Black movies, The One, Bicentennial Man.

What was wrong in MiB 3 and Ender's Game. Second movie's main character is too cocky, but overall the story wasn't bad imo (book seems good). And also why Pacific Rim is considered as a good movie, you remember the sword ?

Men in Black 3 ins't a bad movie. I didn't put it on the bad list, in case you didn't notice. It's just that it's not very good... As for Ender's Game, it's not that bad either, but I put it on the bad because it was a major disappointment. Given the book after which it was made, I expected genius, just like in the case of Dune and all I got was boring and dreadfully mediocre.

Starship Troopers was a good movie.

It was intentionally overbearing and ludicrous, which I think a lot of people misinterpret. They think its an earnest attempt at a flag-waving, Hooray-for-War kind of movie, rather than the Catch-22 kind of reflection of the entire affair.

The 2nd and 3rd movies are beyond saving or defending, though. They're just complete crap.

I really don't think so. Yes, it's a masterpiece if you compare it with it's dreadful sequels, but I can't bring myself to care for a fascist society like that. Th situation was desperate for these dumb-asses in the war and the movie never once made me feel bad for them or rooting for them to win. I kept wishing that the bugs eat them all. Never a good thing for a movie like this. Also, it's the only movie I've ever seen that made Neil Patrick Harris look bad.

see i saw it first as a kid and would put it along the likes of terminator or demolition man as good scifi/action, ive since read heinlein's masterpiece of a book(seriously skip shakespeare and put that in mandatory english classes its interesting stuff that isnt hard to understand imo) and think the movies very different but i dont know i like the differences, i always took from the movie that even in fascist societies nothings changed, grunts still do the dying, officers are still assholes, and spooks are still dodgier than chinese street sellers iphones :)

I didn't watch the sequels. I just think it's an all right movie as far as '90s action/sci-fi goes. It's not deep (as it shouldn't be) and it's packed with good quality action (as it should be).

Battlefield Earth was an ok book I much more enjoyed the Mission Earth 'Dekalogy'. Agree on the scientology being nutso - and that L. Ron could write some great stuff. The man had an amazing sense of humor - i am wondering if perhaps he died before letting the Scientology people know that it was nothing but a joke and social experiment.
