Read the rules.
Users can create giveaways.
This user decided to give me the gifts instead of creating them himself.
His choice, Not once did I ask.

I'd take a risk and contact SG support. I'm not sure they're gonna do anything about it because you, among others, agreed to his terms, but farming CV like that... I don't know. That's kind of scammy.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

100% Scammed. SG has full group support built in, you can make a GA for a specific group and only those members will be able to enter it.

There is NO reason that the group owner needs to hoard all the games and then give them out himself. He's either hoarding all the CV for himself, or flat-out stealing games (take the games, ban the member, no way to trace or undo it).

Avoid people like this and look for legit groups.

I see one completed bundle giveaway and a deleted giveaway for three copies of Nosgoth. Isn't that also bundled?

What kinds of requirements did it have? You might not have been meeting them with such giveaways.

And as mentioned, they were public. That certainly doesn't help.

I hate the size of my mobile screen.

I informed him that he can create the giveaway himself, He decided to give them to me to create.
It even states in the bloody rules page that users can create giveaways if they wish.

You showed disrespect to the staff members then you go and deface them?

I try do a nice thing by giving out free games to people and instead I get people like mChaw spreading bullshit around.
Thanks alot.

I agree, if the admin is trying to trick users into giving him games so that he can create the group GA instead of the person who actually bought the game, that's pure and simple CV and SG member abuse.

Never Join A Group That Requires You To Give The Keys To The Group Owner Because That Is An Example Of A Scam.

It is not a requirement. mChaw was told that he can create the giveaway himself, But he choose not to.

Permalink

Hey man, don't worry about it, see it as a lesson. Never join those kinds of groups.
Just stay active and giveaway some games and when you have made yourself a name here and got some CV you can joing pretty great groups.
I've been in a few groups and most of them were pretty awesome, I've just been kicked out of one because I one time forgot to make a monthly giveaway after it was set as a rule, even though I was giving away games regularly and all it would have taken would have been a small comment to remind me. But oh well.
Good luck OP!

Basically, you give the owner a game... So that he can raise his own CV... Using the game YOU CONTRIBUTED. Then they ban you.
I'd say that this is exploiting Steam/Steamgifts users.

It seems ironically appropriate that you would promote your group in a thread concerning a group scam. In your group overview you have referrals hidden behind shortened urls and you ask members to click them, which is a real shady thing to do and is essentially tantamount to lying. That sort of thing will get you suspended from Steamgifts but is perhaps not expressly forbidden on Steam, so you lurk on the outer fringe where you can get away with it. Well played, sir.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes I have ref links on my group, that is how Im able to do the giveaways. It has the shortened urls because its the only way to put the links. I write the site name as the link, so I am not hidding it. The ref links dont damage the members in any way, and its not like they are obrigated to click. So the refs dont damage anybody and with the points I give free games away , so whats wrong? :)

I'm The owner of the group.
To clear things up because this user is clearly spreading false information.
This user was banned after multiple warnings for showing disrespect to staff members.
While trying to talk to him about the rules of the group, I was greeted by a large wall of symbol spam.
The user was warned.
He continued.
He pays the price.
It doesn't matter that he donated $2 worth of games, I still will not allow disrespect to any member of the group.
No special treatment.
