book, show or movie, huh?
Let's see:
Books:
Fantasy: Patrick Rothfuss's Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear. Also: Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive
Urban Fantasy Series: Dresden Files, or Mercy Thompson (It starts off a bit rough, but the author reaches a wonderful stride later on)
Scifi: Currently reading the Uplift series by David Brin. The first one, written in 1980 is definitely a little rough and I don't like the protagonist.... but if you liked the SETTING, book 2 takes place a couple hundred years later and the characters of book 1 are only mentioned off handedly. I'm on book 3! so I'm not sure how the following 3 will play out, but eager to see. Again, the setting was made in 1980, so it's a little rough... which is to say, the author didn't know about the internet, or email, or text messaging or any one of the dozens of technologies we've invented since then. But, past the first bit of the first book, it didn't bother me too much!
Show:
Scifi: Battlestar Galactica. Babylon 5. Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Stargate: SG-1. Farscape. These are a few of my favorite things~
Also recomended: My Little Pony. Ignore the bad rep of the fandom, this show is great if you can relax and remember what it was like to be 5 years old and now worry about how complicated a story is, and just enjoy that it exists. The show's well animated, and was made for kids to enjoy and for parents to enjoy with their kids.. .versus the usual "for kid entertainment'" while parents moan in agony nearby. Heard good things about Steven Universe, the new Ninja Turtles and Gravity Falls too. Havn't watched myself, though. Oh, Avatar: the Last Airbender is also Sweeeeeeeet.
Movie:
Hmmmm... The Fifth Element. Labyrinth. The Dark Crystal. Avatar (the blue aliens, not the airbenders).

Enjoy! (and thanks!)
