very nice puzzle, i was counting wrong the 1/0, i counted 8 vertical/horizontal strings made by 9 numbers instead of 9 strings with 8 numbers, so i couldn't translate them with binary
when i read "the puzzle has 18 symbols" i realized my error :V

Really nice puzzle! The format of the grid had me thrown off the track, but the binary hint helped eventually.
