The game doesn't follow the CnC series (but is still good, imo). The only annoying thing is that you need persistent internet or it doesn't work. Gets annoying if you have a flaky net connection...
There was a short time, when EA had a similar always online DRM, like Ubisoft. You need an Origin account for this game (actually you could just play/download it via Origin and wouldn't need Steam anymore) and you have to be online all the time (even in singleplayer). Last time I checked the multiplayer was pretty much dead, but if you're fine with singleplayer, then this game is not that bad. It was certainly rushed and would have needed way more polishing, but the idea behind it is pretty good. I think the C&C universe desperately needed a reboot, too bad they didn't give it more time...
