I took Amtrak from Worcester, MA to Southern Illinois and back again, regularly as a student to go home for winter and summer. It's a long, long trip with a theoretical 8-hour layover in Chicago which always gets whittled down into a 2-hour layover, thanks to delays on the Worcester to Chicago stretch.
