Did you heard about Drift Stage? For me it's a big hype - I love this style (neon 80s) and it's soundtrack. There is free alpha version to download and althought it's very limited I have put many hours into it. You should check it :)

Full disclosure, I'd initially wanted to steer completely clear of any Steam Early Access stuff, but I've recently started to come around to the idea of possibly doing a short Early Access period prior to the official release just to have some time to fully hammer out all of the online and Steam related features (Steam Workshop, etc.) with a significantly sized user base.
I think that site to watch is their tumblr http://driftstage.tumblr.com/
It seems to be updated regualary. If there will be any certain infos about relase date, it will probably go there.
