I have always been interested in learning more about programming and hacking. But, while I have improved my computer skills over the years, I would like to learn to learn more about programming languages and try out some more hacking programs.

hmmm... I don't know much about programming languages or hacking programs since I am just starting out myself since I am just starting to learn about it myself.
First thing I did as a beginner though was find a good IDE (Integrated development environment). Some IDE's are Microsoft Visual Studio, Komodo, Eclipse, etc.
The IDE you pick probably depends on what language you are using. Since I am using C#, I prefer Visual Studio.

Python is probably the easiest to understand and has a good number of useful things. If you want versatility, C++ is probably the way to go.

I don't know any hacking programs, but for programming I can recommend also Python and C++ and for some things even Java.
I also like R, but that's not that easy and not that common but very diverse because of it's packages (it's open souce).
