What's your favorite sports-based novel? Short story? Anything in the written format for fiction that involves sports!
And if not sports, then what about something you read involving the moon or low gravity?
And, uh... if none of that, well, what's your favorite book? :P

I'm not into sports, but for a good novel set in a low gravity environment there's Heart of the Comet by David Brin.

Ugh, not really into sports. But I did watch those movies with Adam Sandler when I was a kid, they were okay back then. Don't know if that counts :P No low gravity stuff read either. Only read very few books, most of it Legend of Drizzt and Warhammer or Diablo. Favorite definitely Gotrek and Felix from Warhammer.

Casey at the Bat? (poem, E. L. Thayer)
There's also a sequel, written a good deal later, possibly by a different author... Can't remember the name right now.
Don't find sports movies to be that good, usually... I prefer sports themselves. :)
I heard that a Netflix reality show called Last Chance U, about a college football team, is very, very good.
Thanks for the wishlisted giveaway, by the way.
Actually, for some reason I thought you were asking about movies. Misread that a bit. I remember now that I do actually have a favourite sports-based novel (or 4): Gordon Korman's Stars from Mars series (4 books, each rather short). Delightful. Hilarious. Loved it when I was a kid. Re-read it a bunch of times. It's about 10 year old kids playing hockey. Really good. Can't be sure an adult would love them, but they are actually really well-written.
Another really quite good hockey-based novel (really a novel, this time, for adults, not kids): King Leary, by Paul Quarrington. Also humour.

First one that came to mind was Ender's Game... then I though: that one training in the novel is not an actual sport.
Then on the second line you gave the low-gravity alternative, so I'm going with Ender's Game. :D
A few of other favourties: The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Light of Other Days.

I do not think I've read anything with sports as the main theme.
I do like to read the books from Piers Anthony.

To name a few good books Fight Club, Choke, Indignation, The Idiot, Post Office, Factotum, 1984, Gerald's Game, The Bad Place. It ranges from classics, to satire, to thriller.
No sports, sorry.

It's a shame that you can't have an animated avatar on here, since that looks lazy indeed! xD

Thanks! I've read some of those, good stuff.

Interesting questions, FalconTrek. :)
I'm not really into sports-based books and stories, so I'll go with the low-gravity option. I read The Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis many, many years ago, and remember enjoying the first two books quite a bit. :D
