I tried it honestly few times but each time I felt like plot was too linear I was missing that vibe of open World and cities soo much not even mentioning hiden dialogues and quests. It was more of a Jagged Alliance to me.
Tried few times? Did you finish the game each time? Because theres 4 endings to reach in total and theres MANY ways to customize your character for combat, what tactical aproaches to take, to play in turn based or real time, exploring the world while following missions, what squad members to take and how differently to take on each mission of where to go, what to do, its a great game, with great voice acting, good story, not so Canon unfortunatly as the rest but is still great. The Plot was too linear...? What do you mean...? Well... i guess reclaiming the wasteland and eliminating individual threats and factions, securing benefical advantages and waging wars on armies isnt realy plotish's huh...well...i guess thats what you get when youre apart of the Brotherhood...? Dont realy see that as a problem, isnt the combat enjoyable enough to make the ''linear'' plot that bad...? Missing the vibe of open world..? Few tries well it's just not in my taste. I am very plot centered person in terms of games. Propably I could end Fallout Tactics and it wouldn't hurt even now but its just not what I am looking for. And it was just hard for me to break through these missions they simply were not as much fun for me - routine is killing fun. Its pretty common for my friends though that they love Fallout Tactics and they are like meh for the core Fallouts. Its just taste I guess :P
I was never into mercenary games although I know quite a lot of them Commandos is propably most famous series which I respect.
