Is there a difference in the pronounciation of those first two lines? Apart from some character differences they look pretty samey to me (I should add that I know nothing about the Russian or other eastern letters, sorry).

I figured as much. I was wondering if the pronounciation is similar. Is it more like German and Switzerdeutsch or German and Dutch, if you know what I mean...? Or maybe more like some local dialect and one can easily understand what the other person is saying if they listen carefully enough.

1) Belarusian
2) Russian
The Russian language is fairly understandable for post-USSR.
Belarus has a long history. Many alliances with neighbors. Absorbed their features, developed their own. Belarusian is understandable, but not 100%
