Yeah, that's definitely intentional. Pretty sure that's trademark infringement right there. Only problem is that an indie dev might not have the funds to go after them and make them change the name. =/

I agree it's a scummy practice and the dev would be better off changing the name.
He explains his reasons in this post but it certainly leaves a bad aftertaste behind. Relying on such methods instead of delivering quality games is going to kill his career.

Yeah, I read it and didn't agree that it was the best excuse.

Using a different letter of the alphabet in a similar way to VVVVVV might have worked as a "tribute" and it would be very clear that it was a different game, but using 5 Vs is just confusing. He's like "Steam wouldn't have released it." Ummm, I think Steam release just about everything and ban them later. lol.

Almost clicked on [Have] before I realized it was VVVVV, not VVVVVV. I don't know anything about the game itself, but the blatant trademark violation is a real turn-off.
