SRIRACHA CAN MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE HIGH. -- >
when the body ingests a pepper, capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin, the elements in a chili pepper that make the pepper spicy, trick the nervous system into believing you’ve touched something extremely hot. In an attempt to combat this feeling, the brain releases endorphins, which give the body a natural high through its pain-numbing, morphine-like sensation.

u think 3x Itch.io = 3x greenlight?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, the Greenlight games most likely have both itch.io and DRM-free links, which means that these numbers are deceptive.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Only the first line applies to total, thus nothing is deceptive whatsoever :P

Maybe a better word to use is redundant. Some of those games have multiple links, so having all those numbers makes it look like there is more to the bundle than there really is. That was my point.

Nah, remember it's pulled from chat logs.
He's replying to people and clarifying points, then it's getting condensed and posted here.
It's the same format every time for Groupees bundles.

OK, I see that you're right. So it's a total of 9 games. That wasn't clear before. This still isn't looking good. Only 3 greenlight games, which means the rest are games that aren't good enough to even try to get greenlit, or the developer doesn't care.

Mm, that's not quite true. Some games have trouble getting on steam due to licensing- for example, Jast USA is the only licensed US distributor of JAST VNs, and thus Valve isn't allowed to act as a distributor for those games.

Likewise, publishers may have licensed an IP from its owner for distribution, but not modification- hence, no editing older games to be steam compatible.

Some developers dislike Valve/Steam in general, and would prefer not to take the cut in their purchase costs [though that tends to not apply to devs willing to go into bundles, I think?].

So there could be reasons other than 'doesn't care'.

But, it IS a Remute bundle, which I'm guessing by your phrasing you're not entirely familiar with?
Tl;dr version, if you love one, you love them all, if not, you hate them all.
As a general rule it's full of extremely pixelated games, usually with mixed reviews. Positively reviewed or games that aren't "hyper retro" are more rare than not.
Largely, Remute bundles are bought by a dedicated fanbase that likes his music, though no doubt there are certainly people that share his rather niche tastes [and, respect to him, he has been willing to clarify that he builds his bundles intentionally to his tastes and does put effort into them, rather than just grabbing random junk games].

On the whole, though, Remute bundles are among the worst received bundles (glance through this thread for 'ew remute'- I don't even have to look, I know they'll be there :P)-

Remute, WGN, any other Community Curator bundle, and Bundle-In-A-Box. Those are really the ones to watch out for on preorders, since they tend to be.. let's call it specialized. :P
Though, again, Remute does put effort into his bundles, while the rest of the ones I listed tend to be a hot mess of first-come-first-serve inclusions, so it's not quite fair to compare his bundles to them.

In other words, unless you're into grungy, super retro gaming, or into his music, preordering a Remute is generally a poor choice.

You can just edit the url to view earlier bundles, if you're curious ( eg: /remute11 to /remute10 ).
One thing about Remute, his content is fairly consistent, which helps create a good impression of what you'll get from him. He DOES however occasionally branch out and grab a well-received, off-the-beaten-path Indie game (like The Music Machine) and throw it in a bundle, and that can mix up impressions on the bundle a bit.

But definitely, don't expect anything more mainstream or generally appealing- that's not what Remute is catering to :)

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with Remute, just trying to give this bundle a chance and evaulate it on it's own. I don't automatically dismiss a bundle despite knowing the history of the curator. There could be some miracle and a decent game or two appears which makes the cheap pre-order worth it. In fact, if I didn't already win Mondrian here on SG, I might have bought this bundle.

And Anime bundles are generally an exception to the quality level of most bundled DRM-free only games. That's a special niche where the companies that own that IP are going to keep insanely tight control over it.

Most DRM-free only games that get thrown into paid bundles are of somewhat low quality. By don't care, what I mean to say is that the game is merely filler, something that in the old days you might have found in an expired box of cereal.

There are lots of very good DRM-free only games, but most of those are open source and free software efforts created by communities of developers and others not looking for profit or by commercial places looking to create goodwill for their brand. These are not those games.

In fairness, sometimes amazing games were included in boxes of cereal.

...they were the exception to the rule :P

And no, sure, definitely evaluate it on its own, I was just stating that Remute intentionally tries to keep things to a similar vibe, and thus does things like intentionally seeking out DRM-free games for inclusion.

I couldn't stand Mondrian, it was a hot mess of unresponsiveness and clunky design, but so far I'm in an exceptionally small minority in the negative reviews on it. Hopefully once this bundle finishes, the reviews will flesh out more, and we can get a better idea of [if those positive reviews were paid for, because really, the game is a disaster] or if [I somehow had a faulty copy, because there's no excusing mechanical issues of that degree].
I found the actual game design to be boring and unfun as well, though, so even removing anything else, I'd still have given it a negative review :/

Pity, 'cause I do love block breaker games :(
I one spent two years basically playing nothing but. >.>

And yeah, no- for all the reasons a game may not be on Steam, I can't see any good DRM-Free games being in a remute bundle. Until the games are actually revealed, you should treat all DRM-free games in a remute as a complete write-off in your purchasing decisions, because they've all basically been cheap mobile game quality in the past [as I recall].
That's the approach I personally take toward it, anyway. :)

yeh , i think i had what i could call a good bundle only once from groupees.
I seem to end up with piles of non-gaming stuff that i have no interest in.
So i tend to give them a miss these days.

I feel ya pinks. 1.8k here, and I tend to scoff at some bundles that others might call good due to owning most of the games in 'em. That usually means there are repeats though, since I hardly ever buy games through steam itself any more.
