Still no VR for me... Waiting on next gen...

Next Gen of VR? I don't think that's going to be a definite point. Headset models are releasing incrementally every year or two, and with all the different developers there is always going to be a latest and greatest. You'll be waiting forever if you're waiting for a huge upgrade, and even if that happened it would cost a ton that you would probably just keep waiting.

I'm just waiting for something like Valve Index 2 with wifi connection, I hope it will not take forever.

Anything wireless will add some latency.
You get latency even from computing each frame of rendered picture...
Too much latency = awful experience.
I have wired oculus rift CV1 and I am happy....after a few hours the cable will not be a problem.
Btw you would want to have wifi antena on your head ? I do not think, that it is healthy... also I am avoiding that electromagnetic smog as much as I can.

Maybe you're right. I've been using Vive with the cable lowered from a high stand, to prevent tangling and tripping - but I can't imagine such setup at home. The wifi receiver could be attached to trousers on the back or shoved in the pocked like a mobile phone, and connected via cable to the headmount for example. It does add latency but I'm sure they will figure something out, maybe some WiFiv2.

maybe some WiFiv2.

I think that's already here in the form of WiFi 6.

The most fun I had in recent weeks was surprisingly not in Squadrons, not in Blade & Sorcery - it was in Walkabout Minigolf, which is honestly a blast in VR with friends. Just as an example, that it's sometimes the games you don't expect that are the most fun. But I agree, chess probably makes more sense on a flat screen.

At this point, owning a VR headset is like having an I-phone, you have a target on your back for big prices.

I got my VR gear used from eBay. I have purchase all my vr games at a fair price but they are more expensive overall. It likely has to do with not have as much volume of sales so they make it up in price. Any way if you are a bargain hunter you can find good prices.

If you don't mind me asking - what headset did you get and at what price ?
I have no idea about VR.. but could look into getting one after upgrading PC, but don't really have an idea which ones are good and what would be a good price for used headset. Any suggestions ?

I think the best right now is the Quest 2 if you don't mind the mandatory Facebook account (best as in best value for your money, if you are rich enough, get an Index :) )

Thanks for suggestions.. Index is definitely out of my budget :D But I'll check out Quest 2, that looks a bit more realistic price wise.. maybe some deal for a used one will pop up.

It was in 2017 I got a used HTC Vive for $500. I still use it and it works for my computer power/setup. I would love to upgrade to a fancier unit but I will wait until I need to update my pc again. I have a Nvidia 1080Ti and I don't think some of the new higher resolution displays will work well with it. As far as how much you should be willing to spend. I set a budget for how much I was willing to pay and just kept looking until I won one at my budget. I also had a VR gaming storefront near me so I played there a few time to test and see if I like VR gaming. Then a friend of mine bought one and I played there a few times to make sure I knew what to expect.

Thanks for the answer
Sadly there is not VR shop near me where to test it out. And as far as I know no friend of mine has one either..
I once played Dirt Rally with VR a bit, but from what I remember the quality was mediocre, but that could have been some 7-8 years ago, so maybe the set up or VR headset werent the best..

I suppose finding and trying it out should be the best way.

Space Junkies is a Steam key now...

That's odd but I can't see The Assembly there, probably due to region-lock or just a bug.
Alas the bundle is overpriced anyway and excluded from spin-to-win discount coupons

I have to say, considering how expensive VR games usually are and how rare high discounts are for many of them, it doesn't feel overpriced. Definitely better than the Oculus store, where 10% discount qualifies as a "daily deal". xD

i just curious why oculus key sold out, and try to ask fanatical on twitter and they just reply this :
Hi, unfortunately, we will be only able to offer Steam keys for this bundle due to unforeseen circumstances. Sorry for the disappointment this may cause.

sadly...

Yeah, it's a shame. I got one for me (bridge crew), but wanted a second one for a friend, so we can play together. Sadly that won't happen so easily now.
