It's a good game. It's like halo in germs of the setting and the weapons. It's like borderlands because of the shooting MMO aspect of the game. If you like halo and borderlands then you'll enjoy this game. It feels like an MMO, The PVP is also pretty fun and really plays like halo.

i have seen several big streamers saying the gameplay wont last long but than again this is just an opinion as for me i think the game isnt worth it but thats just me :)

I saw the pre-release footage. It's the Borderlands type formula through and through. While I did sink 143 hours into Borderlands 1, I'm not about to do it again. It was a diluted, repetitive slog. The RPG mechanics did not make the game more interesting as the game progressed. The setpieces were nice but traveling and backtracking between them was dull. The game promised a wide array of funky guns, but the actual variety was lacking, and the RNG consistently made the new weapons underwhelming. The enemy design was interesting, but the task of pointing the cursor until the health bars disappear often took either far too long or too short.

Borderlands did have quality content, but it was pearls lost in a mire of mediocrity. The game could have been distilled down to something like a quarter of what it was, and would have been better for it. I see the same thing with Destiny, except perhaps even worse: the Borderlands formula, glued to a faux-MMO, as done by cut-n-paste extraordinaires Bungie.

Fuck that. I have better ways to spend my time. In 143 hours I could have played a dozen other, better games. No amount of polish or marketing can make up for a dull experience.

like a lot of people have said before me, it is kind of a Borderlands / Dead island type of game. if you're into that kind of thing, then you will probably enjoy this too. It plays and feels a bit like MMO's, just to give you a general impression. Personally i found BL / DI to be more fun to play than this. it's kind of missing something unique....

But in seriousness who the hell takes a game series on console-only anymore?

PC MASTER RACE....or at least until net neutrality gets destroyed because of politics.

Destiny's initial reviews seem to be "meh". Maybe expectations were too high, but what do you really expect from an mmo?
Seems to me like people readily joined the hype wagon without thinking. It's not a bad game, but the big part of an mmo is grinding. After a while it's bound to get boring.
I played the beta, but I definitely will wait 'till more dlcs etc. come out. Maybe I'll just wait for a pc port.

Coincidentally I watched this video taken of it just earlier today. The person who made it has a few other Destiny videos too. Since he usually makes videos mainly about the Borderlands series, I assume the games are similar.
