Thank you for the giveaways! All I can say is, enjoy your games!
I switched to a mood were I'm ignoring achievements initially. There are many games where achievements actually undermine the enjoyment of the game. At one point, I was just following guides to make sure I didn’t miss a single secret or collectible. This isn't fun. Like Wolfenstein: The New Order, The first level is pretty straight forward and not too complex. I always like to explore the environment and I didn't rush through it but I somehow missed all secrets and collectibles. WTF, the 1st level! This pissed me off and I decided that, in order to enjoy this, I need to concentrate on the game and not on the achievements.
I do have some 100% games, but now I mainly want to experience the game for what it is, enjoy the story, or immerse myself in the virtual world that's been built. The game should be fun to play. Every achievement I get is a bonus, but I don't focus on it. My backlog is so big that just finishing a game already feels like an achievement, preferably with an "official" achievement "You have completed the game," but that's no longer necessary. That’s enough satisfaction for me to move on to the next game.
Only after beating the game do I check if there are any achievements that I can still reasonably get, perhaps with the help of a guide. For example, a secret I missed or some collectibles I didn’t complete but can still be found by reloading a level, etc. I also like creative achievements that force you to play the game differently. For example, complete a level without killing any enemies even though it’s an FPS.
Whether I complete a game 100% depends on the game and the achievements (duh). I'm inclined to ignore many grindy achievements, such as: replay the game multiple times on different difficulties or for alternate endings while the game isn't fun enough to play again. Or something like: kill 100 of these rare enemies that only spawn once per hour, or rare events like kill a player with with a mackerel while he also kills you with a mackerel (that kind of stuff).
There are so many other fun games that it's a shame to stay in one game too long just for one or two achievements when it's no longer fun to play.
B.t.w. for some games, grindy achievements aren't that bad because the game loop itself is already grindy. For example, Back 4 Blood is all about replaying the same maps over and over to collect weapon skins and other cosmetics. An achievement like "Kill 53,600 Ridden" actually provides some extra motivation to play it again (BTW, this is a nod to the Left 4 Dead 2 achievement "Kill 53,599 infected").

I used to be achievement hunter like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee Then at some point I noticed that some games turned achievements into some kind of trap to keep you farming playing time. And I quit. When it's fun I play to 100%, if it's almost like second job and makes me tired instead of having fun - then I don't 100%. So small advice - remember that you are doing it for fun :)
And don't try to 100% "rabbit hole 3D". This is a nightmare. And it's the game that finally freed me from being devoted achievement hunter xD I found another one idiot like me and we split work in half. I took half of the levels (with even number) and he the other half. We made list of correct moves and then glued it together in one big instruction to follow (because last level is all previous levels as a whole and you can't make even one mistake). Maybe first couple of levels were fun. But the rest was like full time job. Just tiring.

I love achievement hunting, but more often than not I will start a game, enjoy it a lot, and by the end not want to pursue the remaining achievements because of the difficulty / time investment / feeling exhausted.
When I intentionally go out of my way to try and 100% a longer game it just takes a LOT out of me.
Most recently I've done this with RDR2. I tried to pursue a ton of missions, side content, 100% the bestiary etc. and after about 100 hours of gameplay over that playthrough I just felt sick of it. Immediately uninstalled after finishing the prologue.
However! Shorter games or games that I really totally love with all my heart and get super invested in are a beauty to achievement hunt in.
Dishonored, Rodland of Pipes, and most recently Death Stranding are all games I enjoyed doing achievement hunting in (, especially the last two, Death Stranding is such a beaut of a game.)
I try to do it casually, and only go for the full 100% if I really enjoy the game.

Like 1 hour left bump. Didn't notice this thread before.
Congratulations on so many 100%s!
I typically don't do 100%, it's usually a chore and there are so many games which has achievements which is just busy work. Ghostwire Tokyo "collect all the spirits" is just awful... but I do 100% games that have a lot of content achievements and are games that I thoroughly enjoy. The last games that I probably went out of my way to 100% is Clair Obscur and before that... maybe Piczle Cross Adventure. Even games I love, I may not bother with going for 100% if the achievement is boring enough.

good luck with trying to get 100% with Ys origin !
I actually got 100% on it : Boss rush was very difficult and time consuming to do !
I had to redo some bosses on story mode, to be able to fully understand their attack pattern.

I finished Dino D-Day.
I played Dino D-Day years ago and found it absolutely hilarious. I recently went back to finish up the remaining achievements, and I have to say, some of them are genuinely funny and creative.
If the game were still active, I think I would’ve had a blast playing it again. Fortunately, I was able to get most of the achievements using bots, and for the rest, I asked a friend to help out.

You can play the game entirely with bots. There's a 'Create a Game' button that lets you set up a private or LAN-style server, so no one else can join.
If you're just looking to try out all the classes and get a feel for the gameplay, it can definitely be fun for a few hours. But if you're not aiming to complete the achievements or just playing against bots in general, I can imagine it getting boring pretty quickly.

I finally finished Planet Zoo!
What an amazing game, I absolutely loved it. Most of the achievements were fair and enjoyable, except for two that were a bit of a grind. The community challenges, for example, only seem to appear every two weeks (if I’m not mistaken), and you only have a few days to participate in them in order to unlock the achievement.
And completing the Zoopedia… wow. With all the DLCs, there are just sooooooooooooo many animals...... it took ages to finish!
But still, such a beautiful game overall.
How did you like it?

I also enjoy achievement hunting, and one of the best games I've played recently that I'd love to recommend is Robocop: Rogue City
The game is super fun to play, short(around 10 hours), and achievements are mostly tied to progression, with just a few unrelated. No missables.
I hope you try it out, especially considering it's now bundled and constantly at a 90% discount.

I finally finished another game. This time its Abyss Odyssey.
I had pretty mixed feelings about it. There were definitely some things I enjoyed, especially the games visual style and atmosphere. But honestly, there were just as many frustrating elements.
The combat could be clunky and annoying at times, and grinding the other two characters up to a certain level just for an achievement felt unnecessary. I was lucky enough to find someone to help me with the multiplayer achievement, which was a nice surprise.
The toughest part by far was beating the final boss on Nightmare mode. With the way the combat works, that fight was annoying...
Would I recommend it? Honestly, it was just an okay experience overall. Not a great completion, and not something I would call a particularly fun hunt. Plus, it’s already 11 years old, so it hasnt exactly aged gracefully.

I finished another game.
I have a few longer games I need to finish, and I just needed a short break from them, so I picked a random short game. Honestly, I cant recommend it, it wasnt really fun for me.

I always like going for 100%, but it's so mind numbingly difficult sometimes! Most games require multiple playthroughs, some even more than one!
Bump :)

Basically any of the others, although many got nightmare modes and bosh rushes (with achievements) so if you want to get them, they are a real nightmare.
From what i remember is why i ditched Origins because it had a very long grind for currency achievement (been too long to remember) and maybe finishing the game on several modes/characters. i have 100% all the others, except that one, so i must have had my reasons.
I would say the first two, it's even nice to find the very first original dos game (they should have included that on steam) or 9 or 10.

Not much, basically you get Adol has his memory lost, his friend Dogi, getting the same weapon/armour upgrades. it's more like the essence of the story is the same but with some slight differences (basically a bit like Zelda when you just basically have to rescue Zelda) the story isn't heavy.
With 9 they tried to went bigger with having towns and ships, but most is cut off from the beginning and only unlocks at special points, still making it very linear, and personally i didn't like 9 and 10 so much.
Not to mention the endless DLC although i got lucky to bought those at a very decent price with all DLC back then on a reseller site.

I finally finished Agony!
All achievements done. What I really enjoyed was unlocking the different endings, I think there are seven in total. The option to choose both the level and the specific section to start from made collecting items much easier.
That said, without a collectible guide, I would’ve been completely lost. Some of the collectibles are hidden so well that I honestly don’t understand how anyone could find them on their own. And there are way too many of them: statues, letters, notes, skill points, secret rooms, comics, 3D statues, paintings… it’s just too much.
Gameplay-wise, it’s pretty clunky. There are invisible walls, you can get stuck on random objects, and jumping over ledges is a nightmare.
Would I recommend playing through it and going for all the achievements? Probably not. I did enjoy the different endings and the grotesque vision of hell, but overall, the game just isn’t that good.

Sounds a bit similar to my playthrough of Lust from Beyond. Was ok for the achievements, but not really a good game overall.
I enjoy following your 'hunt'. Keep it up! 👍

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a personal milestone with the community, I decided to become an Achievement Hunter! My goal going forward is to fully complete games, enjoy them to the fullest, and unlock 100% of their achievements. And to celebrate this shift in how I play games, I have decided to give back to this community that shares my love for gaming. Maybe just to add a small info, mostly i play games on consoles the first time without hunting in mind and afterwards if I play them on Steam again, i will care about achievments.
For every game I finish to 100% completion, I will be giving away a game. So far, I’ve completed 53 games...so today, there will be 53 giveaways!
A Little Disclaimer:
Yes, some of these 53 were shovelware or very easy games, dont be fooled by the number. But recently, I have taken this journey more seriously and started to play more challenging and meaningful titles like:Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bioshock, Abyss Odyssey, Agony, Ys Origin, Dead by Daylight, Planet Zoo
Extra Spice:
To make it more fun, I will be rating each game I completed on a difficulty scale from 1 to 10 (purely my personal take, dont take it too seriously!!!). The harder the game, the higher the entry level requirement for the giveaway. For example:
A 0/10 game might be open to everyone (you will see there are some 0. Its basically just starting the game)
A 10/10 game might require level 10 to enter.
This is just a fun way to mix things up and encourage myself, and maybe others, to take on bigger challenges and enjoy games more different.
I hope some of these giveaways bring joy to your library, just like these games brought joy (and occasional frustration, i cant deny that) to mine.
Tell me about your 100% Stories, if you doing the same thing or had just one game you wanted to finish to 100%
