Would be news to me, that I ever did necro such a thread. And what some people do and always did about those old bundles, is irrelevant when the context for people swearing to never buy from Humble again, is exclusively about this silent advanced elimination of Steam keys.

And once again, nobody is interested in debating with you why some people keep their keys for ages, as that isn't the topic. This makes about as much sense as if you'd expect me to debate the casual weather at your place when I'm somewhere entirely different.

The reason why someone want that the product that they purchased are in the state as they purchased it is unimportant for a law.

But because you are curious about reasons.
I don't trade or resell.
In my case it is mostly a combination of "i don't have enough energy to check all region restrictions, create GAs etc.", "a part of the keys is for my son but he don't have the needed age (that i see as appropriate) for a part of them" and "the game/key XYZ is for family member/friend ZHY at date XX.XX.XX for event XYZ". To give you 3 examples, not every reason.

But in the end it all comes down to "i purchased a product and i expect to do with it whatever i want, at whatever time, as long as it isn't against a law and i expect that the company that was paid not come up with FRAUD/Scam/Stealing and follow the laws".
And HB fail to follow the laws and this isn't a maybe case, it's crystal clear.
So i expect and demand
A) the product in the state that i purchased it
and if this isn't possible for whatever reason
B) my money back (which maybe help them to go around a fine from the EU consumer protection offices).

If the EU consumer protection offices see such a case as FRAUD, breaking laws and worth their time and energy to drag them to the courts is a different case and have then only partly influence on my demands (A and/or B).

Oh and don't forget that not only the, retroactively added, expire dates are a problem, the "sold out but we let the customers pay for a product that he never recieve" is a problem too and included in the case and general company behavior.
And this detail is, for sure, important for the EU consumer protection offices too.

To make one thing clear:
It was never a problem that they set a expire dates for bundles/keys that you buy now and see this info before you pay for the product.
Each consumer know then what he will buy and in which condition.
That's absolutely ok and their right as company.

Your claim that the publishers, maybe, force HB to enforce/add expire dates are maybe true but that isn't and can't be the customers problem.
The publishers and HB have a contract and if in this contract nothing about a expire date are written then HB don't need to follow demands to add such a expire date.
If in the contracts between HB and the publishers were expire dates listed and HB don't added it to their products, then they need to take the loss (so paying the publishers for the damage) and take the products back from the consumers (not for wallet "money", instead for the pay option that the customers used) if the customers want it.
And of course they would be bound to inform the customers in each case.
