I was trying to get a bundle, and things went wonky (specifically PayPal, but many other big sites are impacted). I guess I'll have to wait. :(

On the other hand, I'm interested in the details, as it seems many important services are down, including my GitHub. Had to be something significant.

Thanks :3

Yes. At least Level3 from what I see. A colleague from work also suggested others are being hit as well.

Yes, definitely, but who is behind of that, what is the real bandwidth of the attack etc. Those things usually are announced much later. The fact that attackers had enough power to bring that DNS down alone is enough to say that it was a significant incident.

Seems the attack is done by a governmental organization in my opinion. From past experiences Anonymous and other rebellious groups were able to only bring down one service. Presently, a group is bringing down multiple sites at once.

Definitely a state actor as they say. Question is is it NSA/US, Russia, or China? Who is benefiting most from this and is it just a prelude to a bigger attempt later, probably closer to the election.

On Reddit, someone has pointed out some sites related to political parties are affected.

You could always just switch to a different DNS until it blows over.

I'm using OpenDNS instead of my ISP's for DNS and haven't had any trouble reaching any sites today.
