This... actually looks good, thanks for sharing it!

Though the length...

The game states 50+ hours of game play currently, in reality, it is closer to 100+

Does it really need to be that long? 50+ hours of game play was a selling point when I was a teenager, but now I don't know when I'm ever going to find time for a game of that length.

I never intended to complete it in a day - I usually only have an hour a day to play games. I'm just not sure if I want to dedicate 3-4 months of my life to it. :)

I take it you've played it?

Good thing you don't have to play all of it in one session. If you have 1h/day time to play a game and the game lasts 100 days instead of 50, you got twice as much value for your buck. Meanwhile other games can easily get thousands of hours of playtime.

I'm at the point where I care more about quality than quantity, and I don't necessarily want to play the same game for 100 days. I would rather play ten 10-hour games or twenty 5-hour games that are great and where ever hour is exciting than play one 100-hour game where a lot of the content feels like padding. Not saying that's necessarily the case here - I haven't played it, so I don't know - but I'm not sure how an RPG-maker game gets to such length otherwise.

Plus, at a certain point, I start to get tired of playing the same game. It's a rare game that can hold my interest for 30+ hours, let alone 50+ hours, without me starting to wish that the game would hurry up and end already. The first 5 hours of any game is exciting. The 50th hour? The 80th hour? The 100th hour? Those are far less exciting.

I think you misunderstand. I have little time for games, which is why I want to make sure that each hour I play is a meaningful one, and would reward my time investment.

I appreciate short games because they tend to be compact and focused with no filler and nothing to waste your time. Many 15+ hour games, on the other hand, end up having filler that feels like it's just there to raise your playtime or otherwise overstay their welcome such that I start getting impatient for them to end.

For example, I really enjoyed Nier, but almost every side-quest is either a fetch quest, a messenger quest, a "kill X" quest, or a "collect X drops" quest (this last one is the worst, particularly when those drops are rare). They add some additional backstory to NPCs, which is nice, but they could have been done in a way that didn't involve the player having to repeatedly run back and forth across great distances or having to clear out a dungeon a dozen times hoping for rare drops. So while I really like the game, the side-quests are pure time wasters and I abandoned many of them. The sequel, Nier: Automata, was a lot better in that it didn't have time-wasting quests (with a few exceptions).

If TLS is as good as you say, I'll give try to give it a shot sometime. :)

The game looks interesting. But all the plot is text only, which is kinda disappointing. I would probably give it a go sometimes.

Oh, looks really nice! I am trying it for sure xD Another free game worth a look is Battle for Wesnoth (something like a Fire Emblem game if you are into that): https://store.steampowered.com/app/599390/Battle_for_Wesnoth/
And Grimm's Hollow: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1170880/Grimms_Hollow/

Not free, but if you don't mind Rpg makers, you should try Ara Fell, it's really cheap when on sale and I enjoyed every second of it. For me, it's the best Rpg maker game out there, everything is custom made by the devs and looks gorgeus.
