Is this 'classic' Capcom?

View Results
[SKIP] After all their years in business, these are the best 'classics' they could dig up?
[TOO EXPENSIVE] Well charging a lot for games that could be grandparents by now, is certainly 'classic' Capcom
[OWN] My library is so classic it puts that one in Alexandra to shame
[TIER 1] "It's A Weapon, It's Really Powerful, Especially Against Living Things"
[TIER 2] It was when the T-rexes unlocked their Breath of Fire, that the Dino Crisis really started to kick in
[GROUP BUY] Classic friendships start with classic games

Little overpriced isnt it?

Literally this bundle: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/86420/Capcom_Classics_Pack/

GG capcom

Edit: Also expect some insane region locking on all these games.

lol, on Steam 19,74€ vs 21.37€ (from which I have to give minimum 3.95€ to Humble)

Steam - NZ$ 31.56
Humble - NZ$40.39

Capcom bundles as much of a deal as always.

At first I thought that said 20 USD for Tier 2, but then I thought I must be mis-reading. That can't be right.

Currently this bundle is cheaper on Steam in my region than Humble.

I'm sure nobody who made these games has even worked at Capcom for the good part of 2 decades.

Good games, bad ports.
Official ports of older games are almost always the worst way to play them. If you want to play retro games these days but don't have the original hardware the best way is always via recomps, or emulation if no recomp exists (these games are all very well known and will probably have recomps released sooner or later).

In other words, pirating them, or waiting for GOG releases. Got it.

No, you use your own copies and run them through an emulator or recompile them to native PC versions.
Why would you need to pirate them, unless you're allergic to ebay and second-hand sales? Sure it's a PITA to do with carts since you need a dedicated reader for them, but for disc based games (like these) you can just use any old cd/dvd/blu-ray drive.

own copies

Like what percentage of people own or could afford to have their own copies of these games now?

No idea. All I was saying is that's what's going to offer the best experience.

Alternatively, I believe some Steam releases of older games come with the original iso/rom (like with the Sega collection of Genses/Megadrive games iirc), in which case anyone could just install the game from steam and run it via fan emulators or recomp tools instead of the included exe. Though given that the above games have some ridiculous drm on them (come on, they're 30 year old games!) I doubt such a consumer-friendly option would be available in this case.

They are available on GOG.

In my region that pack is slightly more expensive than the price on Steam even though it has a higher discount (67% vs 50%)

Yeah, GOG's prices are generally more expensive than Steam's.

PS1-era games with weird DRM, while also available DRM-free on GOG.
