I don't really get the problem, as you did find the page. Deletion is not a common use-case, also Iām rather against that in general for trading-sites as it allows for people with negative rep to hide their bad track-record.
Also kind of goes against the initial intention of the redesign to allow rating of all Steam accounts.
Scammers will now just delete their accounts..

I haven't logged on here in ages but did so to respond here. What you say makes a lot of sense. I see that bobbinrobin302 is linked to a SteamTrades account that was created 56 minutes ago. I hope he didn't delete his old one and create a brand new SteamTrades account. I can understand someone wanting to delete an account but if they do and then create a new account, it should definitely keep the full trade history. I have no issues with it deleting the account holders reviews but if I create a review for person X on steam account Y. That review should be in place regardless of account deletions / renames so if the person ever creates a new steam trade account, those reviews should pop back in there.

On SG you can return after year, but on steamtrades you are permanently gone:

Fully agree, I use it as a sort of history record as well and having those things deleted would be unfortunate.
I don't really care about account deletions otherwise, except for those that have negative rep as it effectively whitewashes scammers.

I agree that account deletions should be an option with all accounts. In a case where I have made a comment about a scammer, the comments should be kept because they aren't the "scammer"'s comments but rather mine. He/she should by all means be able to delete the account but not my comments.

The problem is that the comments in this case would be mine, not the person deleting the account. If they delete the account then my comments should remain in the case where the person creates the account again.

why delete it anyway? you dont want to use the account? fine. why not just leave it alone then? better than permanently block your 11 year old account from registering again. you share no sensible data and its a new account. empty.

If someone really doesn't intend to use that site, they lose nothing. Trading on Steamtrades is a nightmareish back and forth most of the time, with people having want and have lists but no indication of how they value the games, ending up with walls of "no ty" replies for any offer, with some exceptions, rarely.

Fully right with that, which is also why I don't use it for traiding. But it is still fairly useful for leaving rep (even if not remotely as much as it was before the redesign)

Yeah I saw that a lot. Probably the only reason I would never use it even if I can start affording bundles. How I get my games is good enough. Even if I have to wait for months to get my games sometimes.

As for your question, I believe the deletion of account should never be made too "easy" to do so, because people tends to abuse it. For example, someone might make a fraud there, delete the account, then recreate another one, then keep cheating others as if nothing happened. So it's OK to make the deletion process complex.

As Narayan stated, there's no gain to deleting your account, especially since ST no longer has any protections at all against multi-accounting, meaning exploiters have already become rampant without any special actions required on their part (hence Tristar's somewhat euphemistic 'redesign' comment, above).

Wow, I assume the account deletion page is brand new because I looked for it a while ago and didn't manage to find it (and also the privacy policy was updated just a few days ago).
Appalled, but not surprised, to see a majority of people against account deletion. Everyone say they like privacy (and indeed do shut the toilet door), but most people just aren't ready to cope with the slightest drawback that may come with it ("boohoo, people with negative rep can hide their track record").
On a side note, that privacy policy is totally not GDPR compliant. You don't just list all possible legal bases for all your data processing (particularly if you don't even pick some but list all the 6 cases listed in the GDPR), you're supposed to detail which legal basis you use for each data processing.
