Yes! The early unlock is de-li-ci-ous!!! १✌◡✌५
Yes! However, I already got the early unlock, but I'll still buy the Monthly bundle! ( ・ω・)
I need to think if this will be worth it or if I should save for the summer sale instead.. *ponders* ٩◔̯◔۶
Already got the early unlock, so I'm out this time. (¬、¬)
Nah, I'm plainly not interested in the early unlock, and won't risk my money for some games I might not like! ¯\(ºдಠ)/¯
Nope! I need to save money... (╥_╥) #Skipping

Not fan for DS... Pass again...

Dark Souls 2 is worst Dark Souls for people who start the series on Dark Souls 2,
Many say the 'Scholar of the first sin" updated it to be even worse.

I've always heard the opposite about scholar of the first sin

I think the main stream is: DS > DS 3 > DS2 SoFS > DS 2 . I liked more DS 2 than the first one, kinda unpopular opinion, but i had way more fun (even with the thing that you can get invaded even in hollow)

DS 2 has most comfortable and cool pvp/gameplay

DS 1 - u will hardly find people above 100-120 SL

DS 3 - casual stupid friend zerg party

I played DS 1 so I only want DS2. However I hear it isnt as good as DS1 and DS3. What is wrong with DS2?

Game feels/plays differently. Biggest example is invincibility frames from rolling are locked onto a skill.
Also looks different.
And no rag dolls because different engine. (although the sotfs might have added them back)

FWIW, I actually enjoyed a lot, even if it's different from DS1(the other souls game I played so far).

While DS1 had cooler enemies, a better atmosphere and WAY better map/world design, I actually liked the combat in DS2: SotFS better and with more... "flow" I guess.

You forgot the enemies that spin in place with attacks that track you while you sidestep - its like they're standing on tip of giant vinyl record player or something.
Yeah, definitely not the best Souls game.

That happened in DS1 as well. With the black knights in particular.

Nothing's wrong with it, it's a fantastic game. It has the best pvp by far of all the other games, and the pve changes in ng+ and above with new and differently placed enemies are a welcome addition. It has arguably the best arsenal of weapons and the best armor compared to the rest of the series. Bonfire aesthetics add additional layer of depth to the pve where you have the option for higher value rewards if you can take the spike in difficulty. Backstab is handled differently making it less spamable. Power stancing weapons is absolutely fantastic addition that for whatever reason is missing in DS3. The dlc areas are the best zones in the whole series. The world has somewhat worse design than ds1, but it's a lot better than some people are making it up to be (ds1 later areas get pretty bad too). DS2 world is also less interconnected than ds1, but I don't see it as that much of a problem, as long as zone shortcuts can be unlocked later.

I think that's generally a problem with the whole series. I've been hit in DS1 a lot in places where I shouldn't be. The only ones that I recall are really broken in DS2 are the falconers (everything's broken with them, movement, blocking, and hitboxes). Overall, I don't see it as that much of a problem, especially if you decide to bump your agility, then you can roll through pretty much everything. As for hitting stuff, this game encourages playing unlocked a lot more, since usually you face more than one enemy at a time and with a weapon that swings wide most encounters become significantly easier.

I'm so fucking indecisive, I want Dark Souls but I'm not sure if I'll care about the rest of the bundle.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haha, I would be indecisive too if I didn't want it so much. I'm rationalizing it by the fact that ITAD says the historical low for Scholar of the First Sin was $9.99, so even if the other unlocks are a load of crap, at least I'm only out $2?

First time I remember where the historical low of the early unlock was actually quite a bit lower than the bundle price.
Since DS is a kind of "everyone knows about it" franchise, I feel a bit of a "please, please, please come back and subscribe to us!" pleading vibe from Humble.

Permalink

I feel like it's the opposite. Everyone who's a fan of the dark souls series is bound to have this already and I'll probably pause my subscription because I really don't care for these games.

Dark souls III is 15 months old.. why would they pick II to be the "flagship" for the month?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because they still want to earn money from Dark Souls III? x)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think they won't earn money if they put it in humble monthly.
Btw all Game Devs want to earn money. And with the great quantitys humble monthly sells i
think the devs make good money with that. ;)

Well as mentioned to my reply to Shen the Monthly is a peculiar case :P
If you get lucky and you like the games it's a win. If you get unlucky and don't like the games you can sell them and make your money back most of the time, and maybe get 1-2 games in the process. So it's a win again.
Win-Win! ;)

Monthly is a good deal all-around though I'm yet to sub( but got a friend who often ends up selling the games from the monthly 2-3 months later and get his money back.. often double or more.
