Btw - "Repeat" poll option is suppose to be derp poll option >_< clearly everything here has NOT been bundled before (Steam-key wise). Please don't select that option T_T I'm already kicking myself a million times by accidentally including that option. There's no way to change the poll so now it will be an eye-sore ...

Not even a single game? Well I see 10 games in the bundle so if you don't see any, for $4.99 it's a ripoff lol, jk. Well.. 10 games in the bundle, but their overall value is questionable. If Blues and Bullets was actually the whole game and not just Episode 1, I would say ok to hell with this I will buy this bundle just for that one game, but no it's only Episode 1... :/

All the other bundles they have right now are mostly repeats filled with previously bundled games so they cost much less.

I literally did, hahaha! xD Like a kid opening presents at Christmas :3!!

However, I did do one 'impulse purchase' with one of the games in this bundle.. Yes mom Eeev, I know.. :P But it was not because I really wanted to play the game, it was because it was on sale + I think it was one of those that are tagged as maybe being removed from steam, so I bought it.. For 5.74 €.. >.> Unfortunately I bought that game (rFactor) 3 months ago so no refund possible. :p

But it doesn't wear me that much down right now! I'm sooo happy about this bundle! Especially the games Blues and Bullets, Malebolgia, Contradiction - Spot The Liar!, PaperBound, and even Town of Salem (despite the fact I already own Town of Salem, played it like 30 hrs so far! Sooooo much fun!) ... So, happy happy! \o/

I just saw the announcement on Steam for the bundle, and had high hopes since the Killer bundles so far always have had something from my Steam wishlist. This time nothing. Nice that none of the games seem to have been bundled before, so it's probably a must-buy for the collectors here :)

I have almost all the games in this bundle on my wishlist, although I admit that I have a very large wishlist. From looking at your wishlist I'm not that surprised you didn't have any on there, the majority of your wishlisted games are AAA, which there's nothing wrong with.

But I think this is a great bundle, none of the games have been bundled before as far as i know.

Mazeatic levels, ammunition ill plentiful and scouriging the map for medkits. No cinematic.seq inside levels, no qte events. Short: hardcore classic gameplay. Just checked my wishlist... it has gone from 200+ down to 130-ish, and as you say, probably 70% or more are AAA games... and the ones that have been "knocked off" the list are all mostly games that have been bundled the last six months or so :)

So, chances that games on my wishlist will appear in a bundle decreases for each bundle. As for the Killer Bundle ones, all of the following games that are now in my inventory were on my wishlist and came from previous Killer bundles:
Shadow of Chernobyl
Demonicon
Planetary Annihilation
Year Walk
Call of Pripyat
Of Orcs and Men
Merchants of Kaidan
A Story About My Uncle

They may not have been released yet, but if the bundle explicitly states that what you're getting there is the Episode 1 and not Episode 1-5, it clearly means that you should not expect to receive the whole game in this bundle even when the rest of the episodes get released.

Not always. There have been cases where a game was sold as episode 1 in a bundle, but then later, the remaining episodes were included or the developer decided to ditch the episodic idea and just make it a whole game.

I have yet to encounter that plus Blues and Bullets is an XBOX One exclusive (same way they marketed Ori and the Blind Forest) so I highly doubt you are going to be getting the rest of the episodes as a conciliatory prize down the line - just saying!

I'm amazed enough to even see it in this bundle!! :D So be glad you even get to try out the first episode! ^^ And also as Sir Faulty points out above, the remaining episodes have not even been released yet so it would make less sense to bundle the whole thing!

Or you might look at it like this: Is this bundle interesting? Well it surely is, even if for this one game only, but wait there's a catch and that catch being this is just the first episode of the game and if you look at the price of the first episode of this game on Steam and find out that it costs 4.99, you might as well just buy it from Steam directly and skip the bundle, because if you're only interested in this single game from the bundle, that would be practically the same thing.

To be honest you are making absolutely no sense. So what if the bundle matches the episode (the first episode is of an incredible high quality featuring the voice of Geralt of Rivia as the Elliot Ness with a very dark and disturbing story) you are getting nine other games (of which contradiction is another quality game) with it for the same price.

Even if you didn't want the 9 other games you could either gift them away or trade them for games that interest you more.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Like I've mentioned in another post (See below), there are more factors that play a big role in this and while this post you're replying to doesn't make sense to you, it actually does make sense to many who are purchasing some bundles only to get a single game from the pack for a good price which is essentially the same what I meant in my post.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Even IF I would only be interested in 1 game from the bundle and the price is the same on steam for that one game as the price of the bundle, I would still buy the bundle! Why? Because I can share the rest of the games with friends or strangers on sg to make other people happy aswell!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's true, but then again there are more factors that affect it too and so it's not exactly that simple. If the price is the same on Steam and it's pretty certain that the Steam price won't change when the bundle time runs out, it gives you the opportunity to purchase that single game later on Steam and again skip the bundle for whatever reason, because not all bundles are offered to us at the time that is right for us to buy them. Also, when you buy a game on Steam, as far as I know, it counts towards the Steam level more than a game you purchased from somewhere else, so again, there are more factors to consider.

That is a load of poppycock! Buying games from Steam has no effect on your Steam level whatsoever.

Crafting badges by purchasing cards does!

Where you got that in your head I have no idea!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Lately I didn't craft any badges, pretty much the only thing I did lately was that I purchased some games that I added to my library and I played games, that's pretty much all and yet, I moved from Steam level 31 to level 32. What a nice coincidence.. but who knows, maybe Lord GabeN pushed me there himself...

EDIT:

How do I increase XP on my profile to level up?

There are a number of ways to increase your profile level on Steam. These include:

  • Purchasing games
  • Earning badges
  • Crafting badges
  • Upgrading badges

For more information about your Steam level and how to increase it, please see the Trading Cards FAQ.

All games count towards your XP on Steam. Doesn't matter if bought through the Steam store or as a retail key.

Honestly, personally I purchase games on Steam directly mostly during the seasonal events / sales. While I am unable to find details on how this leveling system really works, how much XP we get when we purchase and/or activate games, from my own experience at least during seasonal events / sales when you purchase the game on Steam directly, it gives you more XP than activating a game that you purchased elsewhere. This is something that I've experienced myself and I was surprised and not exactly in a nice way that although I purchased the game elsewhere (better discount than Steam sale), when I activated the game on my library, it boosted my XP considerably less than games purchased on Steam directly during the sale, but yeah this might be a notable difference.

If a game increases your games owned counter it counts towards your XP. Believe what you want, but it doesn't matter how you acquire it. During sales you might have gotten another badge for spending money during the sale.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks for this post, this might actually explain that, so if I understand this correctly, maybe I reached some milestone before and that's why I remembered higher jump in the XP, but then adding another game while not reaching another milestone had considerably lower effect on XP? Well if that's the case, I guess that could explain this weird experience.

Yep, there are 'bumps' in the XP progression by owning games. Might be that you exactly hit one of those during sales.

It does not!!! -_-
Stop spreading false information! You get +1 xp from every game you add to your library. It does not matter whether it comes in a form of a steam key or a steam copy. Every game gives you +1 xp. Except f2p games unless you have them binded to your library with e.g. a purchase of a dlc.
So no, you are wrong. You probably notice it 'more' during summer sale since you buy more at then. Sorry to bust your bubble.

Calm down, lady... We still have a friendly discussion here, right? Or are we getting into a fight now? Freaking out for something little like this is kinda off the wall and if you say it was this or that if even I can't quite remember the details too much.. that's just funny and a bunch of assumptions really. I wasn't spreading "false information", at least not purposely. I simply shared my experience, but you can believe what you want to believe and I'm not going to purchase a game on Steam right now just to see if it happens again and ultimately proves me right or wrong, but be my guest if you're so inclined, go ahead and do that yourself to burst my bubble if that makes you happy (lol)... I did not mean to upset anyone nor did I try to spread false information, I was simply sharing my experience of what happened to me back during one of the last sales. I think it was the last winter sale, but I'm not really sure.

I am calm. I merely explained to you that you are wrong and how things work! I have purchased a lot of games over the years so I know what I'm talking about + how much it takes to level up.
So back to one of your first comments.. If your only excuse to buy a game on steam (if the price is exact the same) rather than in a bundle to share the rest to your friends or strangers, is to JUST level up a tiny bit more? Sorry, but that's both selfish and laughable. If you wish to level up, you could simply spend a few cents on a badge and get 100 xp from crafting one badge. However that's your decision.
As I also mentioned earlier you probably purchase more during the big sales hence why you notice it more at then, and especially since the first 50 levels on steam barely require anything at all to level up.. In addition to that I see you crafted a few game badges during winter sale + the monster badge gave 200 xp + gem maker for 100 xp, and you also got your 9 years of service badge. Each year gives you 50 xp.

Anyways, as you wished for, I added some screenshots to proof that I am indeed right. :) As you can see both a steam key and a steam gift gave +1 xp each. Btw, put your cursor over my screenshots to see the text to the following screenshot.

Should I put aside that this post as a whole is now irrelevant which over the span of 18+ hours you failed to notice, after reading this particular part of your post, I've lost interest in staying in this conversation as I won't accept being called selfish just because someone fails to read or understand all what I wrote and/or purposely takes things I write out of context which is something that clearly happened here, because while you carefully picked up only those things you could turn upside down only to fit them into your argument, you ignored that I also said "...not all bundles are offered to us at the time that is right for us to buy them...", so I don't know, perhaps you never had to think about it this way and it's something like a rocket science for you, but did you ever take into account that not all of us have enough money for everything? So you call me selfish.. Is it selfish to skip the bundle that results in not supporting the developers, not buying a bundle only to contribute to the community in form of giveaways simply for the fact that there are real life situations when I need to save all the money I can save for living for myself and my family? You called me selfish for that and yet I'm still contributing to the community as much as I can and when I can, well sorry to remind you, but giving away is not a race of how many games or how much of an overall value we give away and seeing this as some kind of race or even calling others selfish for not purchasing games only to give them away is rude and a sign of that someone is missing the whole point of giveaways in the first place, in my opinion what would be really selfish is if I only picked closed groups of people who can win and never gave a chance to regular members, then I would serve a small group but not the community as a whole, my ratio would still keep growing nicely, I would take less risk with potential rule breakers as the private groups with strict rules would essentially reduce risk, but I wouldn't contribute to the community as a whole that much in the long run, that would be more selfish in my opinion.. So young lady, your overall attitude is currently incompatible with a friendly discussion I was looking for and I'm out of here.

Perhaps you should re-read what I wrote since you didn't comprehend that properly...

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings by not replying till 18 hrs later, but I do have a life as well, and didn't check SG in the meantime. Only because I didn't reply before 18 hrs passed does not mean it's now irrelevant. Geez.

Funny how you say that I'm misunderstanding while you are misunderstanding the whole point yourself. But let me help you since it's no rocket science either: I'm not saying that you are selfish for not buying a lot of games for yourself or for others. You wrote earlier that you would rather buy a game for 5€ on steam instead of a bundle (which contains the very same game and also for the price of 5€) so you could get more xp... THAT is what I meant with foolish and selfish. You rather want to get more xp instead of sharing the remaining 9 games with other people.
Buying it on steam to support the developer would be a proper reasoning (and even then, if you truly wanted to support the developer, it would be better to purchase the game from their website instead, so Valve does not get a cut of the purchase. And mostly you get a steam key as well), but that was not your reasoning.

you ignored that I also said "...not all bundles are offered to us at the time that is right for us to buy them..."

What does that have to do with anything? I did not reply to that part of your comment at all. We were talking about this specific bundle, and you shared your reason to rather buy the game on steam than the bundle itself even though the price is the same.

Regarding your sentence for not having enough money for everything, well the price is - again - the fucking same + you get more games out of it + you can choose to share with e.g. the community. Quite amazing, eh? That's financially way more efficient than your way, but perhaps that too seems like "rocket science" to some. :>

someone is missing the whole point of giveaways in the first place

You totally misunderstood me. Simply not recognizing the benefit of getting 10 games for the price of 1, including the game you actually want to buy, is already missing the point. Furthermore you mention that you need to save up for real life situations, then why the hell do you waste your money in such intelligent fashion?

And now that I proved to you that I was right, you go mental and accuse me for being rude, and for saying that you don't have enough games or don't give enough away?? I did no such thing! You wanted proof that it only gives +1 xp, and I took the time to take screenshots and uploading them to show you...

So yeah, it more likely seems rocket science for you to be able to read my comments, but it seems you like to assume things instead of reading it calmly. That's your problem. If you want to believe I'm a rude person or I feel superior just to mock you or whatever you believe, then do so. If you can't understand simple sentences, it's not my problem. I merely wanted to proof and straighten the fact and I did.

"so young lady" Agreed, my overall attitude is completely incompatible with people who cannot differentiate between constructive criticism backed by facts and random rambling. I did not in any way try to attack your opinion, nor attitude; in the end i simply tried to correct a mistake (remember, i didnt want you to spread false info) and was met with a childish attitude based on a lack of understanding my point. Whatsoever, young lady signing off ;)

Any time I come around, you're online, but ok we all have real life that we have to care about and I can respect that and understand that so again please don't act like I am ignoring that because I never said that and I'm glad that you said yourself that life comes first before games, then I see no reason for you to misunderstand what I meant and this is still a completely irrelevant reply and if you stopped for a moment to read all that was said above before posting these posts today, maybe you would not even put your fingertips through the pain of writing these long posts, or maybe you would, perhaps you enjoy to engage in verbal fights for no reason at all, either way, coincidence, random misunderstanding or whatever you wish to call what I described yesterday, it has already been resolved yesterday and someone else who unlike you has no issues maintaining a good attitude posted the link that might be an explanation to what I described and he didn't even have to use a bunch of accusations, assumptions, nor did he have a need to call me any bad names along with getting his message across...

I was about to react to some individual parts of this long post of yours, but after reading some of it, you again showed nothing but wish for a verbal fight, I think you love to manipulate and try to turn everything I say against me even though in reality it's a bunch of assumptions and I already had my fair share of dealing with manipulators in my real life, if I've learned something useful about manipulators, it's that when a manipulator paints an image of who they are, it's the best image by far, and for others, they always find only a bunch of accusations, assumptions and bad names, so no thanks, but this is not what I was looking for here...

Okay, this is clearly getting out of hand, as you noticed yourself. Being shown as online has no relation whatsoever to checking posts in discussion-forums, since, as I believe, you must have heard of the term idling. Firstly, I don't see what I misunderstood here, please elaborate. Secondly, this IS definitely relevant. If we'd assume for one moment it wasn't, why do you even bother writing up a reply in the first place. After all I just finished up answering to the entirety of your postings so far and all I actually did was clarify my true intentions which have been sort of warped on a public platform, by you. Putting myself through the "pain to write those long posts" as you put it, is exactly what I'd expect of anyone worthwhile to talk to, since for the sake of discussion and respect towards each other it's rude to not reply to whatever might have been said, misunderstood or wrongly expressed. It is, as you have noticed yourself, extremely rude to jump to conclusions about another's personality. Therefore I will not even answer towards your "perhaps you enjoy to engage in verbal fights for no reason at all". Clearly you have dealt with "manipulators" enough to have some sort of warped self-awareness that you now must project towards the rest of society, or in this case, more or less anonymous people inside of a forum like this one. Let me quote myself again: "laughable".

Concerning my attitude regarding answers towards questions raised by this community, you can easily check up on posts I wrote in other topics - if you so choose. You might be surprised to notice that my attitude changes only in special cases such as this one here. I'll let you figure out the reason behind this by yourself.
To conclude, I do not see myself as manipulating in the least, nor would anyone else if not for being overly self-conscious. I apologize for any PTSD I might have caused by my adequate behavior and wish you the best in your real life, hoping you recover from being tormented by manipulators as you call them.

Nonetheless I suggest seeking professional help (maybe I'm going a bit far here, but holy crap, read your own posts. Seriously).
I do not seek to represent the majority of this community, nor by any means would I be able to even if I wanted, but yes, this is not and should not be a place for narrow-minded individuals such as you.
Good day to you, good sir.

To conclude, I do not see myself as manipulating in the least, nor would anyone else if not for being overly self-conscious. I apologize for any PTSD I might have caused by my adequate behavior and wish you the best in your real life, hoping you recover from being tormented by manipulators as you call them.

I do not seek to represent the majority of this community, nor by any means would I be able to even if I wanted

You're judging others by your own standards... Of course you have no idea about doing anything wrong on your part and you never will, that's highly expected and another thing that's highly expected is that no matter what would be said on my part, you will always try to make it look like I am the problem and never see the problem within yourself, that's what I mentioned earlier... You have absolutely no idea what are you talking about, but you keep pushing, why? Does this make you happy? I think you hope for a verbal fight to keep going, but I have to disappoint you. Your absolutely wrong attitude, condescension and rudeness knows no limits, you are the one jumping into conclusions in the first place and yet you're accusing me of doing that? You started attacking me on personal level for no reason, every sane and unbiased person would have to agree with me, I obviously did not come here for verbal fights and ended up in one because you started this and keep it rolling, you don't know anything about me and yet you keep on insulting me for no reason at all. I don't know which "real world" you came from where this is considered normal, but the real world where I live in, such attitude is unacceptable, so perhaps you should seek for professional help yourself, although I highly doubt any professional help can fix bad manners, that's something people are supposed to learn while they are still kids forming their personality and while I don't know where exactly that mistake happened during this process in your case, I am not here to waste my time with futile attempts to fix something for other where they failed, so with that being said, I am glad that you indeed don't represent the majority of this community, otherwise I would leave by my own choice. Good day to you, young lady.

Who the fu*k are you? All these disscusion is pointless, and I dont know why she wasted time explaining.
It is clearly that she has more experience in every aspect both on steam and steamgifts then you.
So I see your only intention here was to be an smartass, and no one like smartasses, you can safely expect to be blacklisted by most of regular steamgifters. Congratz and happy cakeday ^^

Telltale does that by releasing the first episode of their game for free as a demo... :)
Most other companies don't split up their game and sell individual levels/chapters/episodes into DLC at all... :)

I miss those demo and shareware disks.

I think the game is too good to be bundled yet. Getting the first episode in a bundle might encourage people to buy the full game I guess.

Really awesome and great bundle. At first I was a bit turned off by the lack of big names in it (it's a Killer bundle after all), but when checking out the games I found some gems I had never noticed before (Malebogia, what beauty do my eyes spot here?, Paperbound, I like you too :D) and two of the games are from my wishlist (Blues and Bullets and Contradiction). I bought it. Very happy with this bundle! :D

You are right, Runestone Keeper is not to my liking. I really despise anything with the tag roguelike and/or procedurally generated on it. It is beyond me how this could have become such a thing...
Anyways, I'm surprised how well you know my taste in gaming, Pete O_O
(And now that you recommended it that warmly I look even further more forward to checking out Malebogia. It's art style is incredible. I'm a sucker for eye candy :D)

Some nice looking games I've never heard of in this bundle. Town of Salem, Blues and Bullets, Contradiction, Runestone Keeper - I think it's worth the price for these games alone.

My wallet is crying and saying no.... :(
I guess I'll have to pass on IG bundle from which I have most except for Ironclad Tactics & Inbetween Land and buy this one, since I want at least 5 games with Blues and Bullets and Contradiction being at top.

Oh why, bundlestars, why?

Considering I was thinking of buying RuneStone Keepers on it's own since it's 50% off...yeah I think I will get this one :)
