No, half of them don't even have achievements :(

Two halves of them are total crap. EA sells them for 10€ each. I wouldn't even wanna play them if they were free,

How the hell are cards and achievements relevant when buying 1$ games? Kids these days...

Too tired to fill in the details. Just surprised that nobody posted it earlier.

Anyway I bought the $1 tier. It's a single redeem link for Steam and a single key for Origin. Guessing BTA is similar.

Yep, one for each tier.

can't give the money to the developers? well then all money goes to humble

1 decade ago

Did the same, EA won't get any tax credit from me.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Seriously? EA is donating 100% of their cut to charity that does research to cure a horrible disease. I don't care what EA's motive for doing it is, the money is for a good cause. Buying the bundle and not donating to charity just to spite EA makes you worse than EA IMO.

Honestly, EA is likely doing it to look like they are awesome and then they get a generous tax writeoff for it. Large companies making nice donations to charity tends to be for publicity because consumers tend to trust in a company that gives back to the community more, but it actually costs them very little to give a donation like this.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The goverments tend to allow this because in many cases is the only way a big company feels generous and kind enough to do something nice, they aren't evil just greedy.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, shame on companies that give money to charities, bouuuuuuuuuh!

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Except EA isn't really giving money to charity. They donated copies of their games to be sold by Humble with the proceeds going to charity. The actual cost of this to EA is very small and in return they get free advertising, good publicity, and a tax writeoff. In fact they actually are very likely to benefit greatly from something that has very little actual cost to them since these are downloads, not a physical product that costs money. The only actual cost is bandwidth for downloads on Origin and lost sales on old games that aren't getting many sales anyhow.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, they are so evil for doing that . . .

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Why don't they update PvZ with HD visuals? It's HD on 360 and even mobile.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would rather see PvZ 2 released on PC first before thinking about that.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, we all need more Pay2Win games on PC. Microtransactions FTW!

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

they could do a deux ex mobile conversion thingy wherby you pay more but have no microtransactions, i mean its EA so dont hold your breath but its a possibility

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Obviously all that stuff would/should get removed for PC as it is the general/expected practice for such games......... but you knew that, right?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't know about it being the "general" practice. How many F2P mobile games have made their way on to the PC?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is a common practice and expectation at this point for mobile games that are ported. PC gamers in general wouldn't stand for it otherwise and companies know this (or should). Off the top of my head, a couple of recent releases, Kingdom Rush and Hero Siege come to mind. I'm sure there are a bunch of other examples.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The IAP in PvZ2 are not needed. You get more than enough coins by just playing to get power ups by yourself, if you want to use power ups, that is.

Only reason I see for someone wanting to use IAP is if they want to get all the plants or if they want to pay something for the app to the devs, because they liked it.

Also, most, if not all games remove the IAP when they get ported as non-free games to PC.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Have to +1 this -- at least so far.
I installed PvZ 2 on my phone the other day out of boredom and curiosity and have played as much of it as is released now. There are a few plants that I could buy with real money, but I don't even miss them.
Most surprisingly, it still felt like PvZ. I had completely expected EA to have ruined it, but it's mostly just the same game with a few new twists and a bit more story.

Exactly, who actually buys games for Android? Apparently 90% of people pirate their games on Android :)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Smart people, like me, buy their games on Android. If companies don't see enough sales they'll just stop making games for the platform altogether.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'd be dumb to buy games on android because I don't own one. I still don't get why they brag about multiplatform support for computer games and then turn around and act like being exclusive to android is a good thing.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Effectively, buying games for a platform you don't own wouldn't be such a smart move.

It's not that being Android exclusive is a good thing, but what other mobile platform would you want them to support? It's not like you can sideload games on iOS or WP8.

Microsoft was considering it (letting android apps on winphone) with windows phone though

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And that would be a good thing. There are way too many companies on the mobile bandwagon making crappy low-production-value games. Those "smart" people contribute to this phenomenon.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh no, the crappy games would still come around. It's the more polished games from reputable studios that would disappear. I don't buy crap games, but I buy the quality ones I do enjoy.

I didn't expect the PopCap Bundle would be that bad, 6$ just to have Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition on Steam......no, and game is not that good.

Yeah I might have bought it if Plants vs Zombies was in the $1 tier but I can't afford to spend $6 on a bunch of games I don't even want.

BTW, what happens if you pay less then $1? (According to HB you won't get Steam keys nor Origin keys)

This should be called the Mother Bundle, after all that is the destiny of most of these keys. Good to include origin, I will finally add something to that library... but I'll probably never play this stuff.

Bejeweled 3 and Zuma's Revenge are in 1920x1200/have an option for it, even if you don't have a 1920x1200 monitor it works :D

Other than that, either put the games in windowed mode, or turn off 3d acceleration (turning it off may cause lag)
