Sam and I actually spoke about it... Since that happened over 10 years ago. The same applied for PoP. Else I wouldn't be on both groups.
And all good about disqualifying me. It is a rule and when there is room for discussion, it can lead to a lot of work because one has to check every exception.

When I was more active on SG I got him to talk with Sam about the posibility of making an exception to that rule. He won the game Revita from me and after a while I think he said something on the giveaway page about having enjoyed the game, I checked is time on the game and was over 100 hours. I suggested participating on PAGYWOSG and he pointed this exact issue.
I'm telling you this because I'd like to bouch for his commitment to playing his wins. Probably that changes nothing but I just wanted to point it out.

Hi there. I'd like to join, I'm proposing to play Viscera Cleanup Detail which I won in 2016 (oh wow, it was that long ago?!?) but never played.
I used to enter for anything that looked vaguely interesting but changed to only enter for things I'd play right there and then a few years ago, so this group is a logical one for me to ask to join. I've also recently plowed through a few years of unclaimed Humble Monthly pages and figure I should do something with those rather than let them rot in a spreadsheet, but rather than joining by doing a giveaway I'd stick with the spirit of the group and do it by playing a neglected win.

I really like the idea of this group, and in fact have played every game I've won on steam gifts (all 2!) but I can't really commit to playing half a game I don't like, and there's always a risk of that with any steam gift. Is there another group out there with somewhat less stringent requirements? Ie I'd be happy to commit to TRYING each game for 30 minutes.

Hi xeos23, I don't know of any "play your games" groups that would be happy with just 30 minutes played unless it is a short game, sorry. Honestly to me as a group owner having something like that seems way too abusable (I am not saying you would, but I been doing this for long enough to know how people are).

I agree it's open to abuse, idling etc. But 30 minutes is way more stringent than the base steamgifts requirements where people don't even need to install the game they win. Oh that is for sure. Anything is better than what goes on in public giveaways. There is a very good reason why I don't make those anymore at all. And I know I am not perfect either when it comes to it, but at least I try which is sadly more than can be said about most users :/

Hmmmm no, probably not, but hard to say for sure as I only have experience with public or quite restrictive groups, I don't actually have any proper idea what the middle ground would look like. Also as a completely random fun fact (I know noone asked, I just got curious while typing this comment), 97,5% (out of ~1300 that are either marked as approved or rejected, there is about 100 still pending from the last month) of all group giveaways made in the last year in this group have been played up to the group rules. I am not gonna go look at the public ones because that would be depressing.

You could consider joining and just be very particular about what you enter. Surely you must know from looking at trailers and gameplay, some games you can be sure to devote 5+ hours to. If you aren't certain - don't enter that one!
It is a far higher bar than public giveaways. But as MouseWithBeer said, there are many members and they abide by the rules.

It's more than 5 hours though, isn't it? You have to "finish" the game. I agree being selective is a good policy; I do that now in the unlucky-7 group I'm currently eligible to be in.
But... I've also paid good money for games only to realize they weren't what I expected or didn't hold up so well after the first hour, etc. That's my concern and reason for not joining. Even being selective that's a real risk, I think. Maybe it's just me; I have zero tolerance for pushing thru a game once it stops being fun.

I'm mostly looking towards the day that I'm no longer eligible for unlucky-7, at which point the chance of winning on non-group giveaways is sub 1 percent and hardly seems worth the effort of blindly clicking, let alone being choosy.

As for the region restrictions, I think the best way to go about it is if you know where the key is from (which bundle) check the corresponding giveaway thread for it on SG. Usually it should have at least some info about it there. When it comes to the group, there is no rules regarding region restrictions, so it is not a problem if it is not a WW key.

The length/level you set it to doesn't matter, only rule is that the first giveaway needs to be group exclusive (if you end up making more later one that doesn't apply anymore). It needs to have a valid winner in the end however so I would suggest doing a day at least so more people have the chance to join :)

Hi Sumnium, not gonna lie, while you left the group on your own it kinda rubs me the wrong way that you wouldn't disclose that you were a group member before or that you had a previous SG account that you deleted. That combined with the fact that I can not verify that your previous winnings are in fact still activated on your account makes me lean towards saying no here.

I totally understand your point of view. The day I decided to leave the group, I had taken the decision to slowly close everything including my Steamgifts account because I needed to focus on a couple of things and I tried to limit distractions as much as possible. I should have said something before leaving the group and that's on me. I think what happened the day I left was that I quit a bunch of Groups and closed my account shortly after, but that's no excuse to not disclose my intention.
As for my wins, I understand your concern, for what it worth I can guarantee you that all my games won (previous and current account) are still active on my account. I only join giveaways for games that I intend to play, I've entered so many games from my wishlist only to see that the winner hasn't played the game. Some of them were won 6 months ago and to this day are still unplayed. I find it very sad for the creator who's giving a game so that the winner can enjoy the game, but it only ends up a +1 in his library. Hence why I only join giveaways I have intention of playing and that I'll enjoy. All my current 12 won games on SG have been played and I enjoyed them all (especially Sea of Stars and Bartlow's Dread Machine)

I think you misunderstood me/ I didn't specify well enough, it is not that I have a problem that you left without saying anything (I don't really expect people to do that at all), it is that you didn't mention it now that you tried to rejoin.
I am still a bit conflicted what to do in this situation but I guess we can put it this way:
Since you have all your new SG wins played + have the one group win you have from the past still activated (can only confirm that one) + you do genuinely seem to mean well I will allow you to rejoin. However normally you wouldn't have to redo the application process if you are just rejoining (you would be directly invited back) but I feel like in this case it would be better if gets redone (giving away Metrico+ as you suggested in your first comment works fine). If you are fine with that let me know and I will approve your join request.
