Hi everyone,
After a long time of procrastinating and false starts I'm getting to a point where I'll be ready to release my first game on Steam. It's a puzzle/ logic game along the lines of classic logic problems where you need to arrange elements based on the clues. I'm planning on having about 75 puzzles, and it'll amount to about 200 different little characters by the time I'm done. The game itself works and 40 puzzles are loaded in my version, and nearly all 75 of them are written. So still some work for me to do, but definitely at a point where I have something to show and so I think I'm ready to start getting it out there in the public space.
I know it's a very niche concept, and it's not going to be for everyone, but rather than making the usual kind of puzzle games which are usually 'path based' or 'colour match' or 'hidden thing' type games, I wanted something that would be a little different and maybe be more memorable as a result. It's certainly not meant to be a money making racket or a major source of income, and I'm really just hoping some people will enjoy it. It'll be family friendly and the difficulty will probably be about equal to a logic problem puzzle book that you might buy, so hopefully a decent balance that a lot of people can enjoy. I'm also working on a few little secrets and surprises to hopefully make it a bit more fun.

So here it is: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2423100/Terrierble_Logic/

Please use this discussion to pose any questions about the game and offer suggestions. And if the game looks like something you'll enjoy I'd appreciate a wishlist or a follow.

And of course, as always on Steamgifts, what would a discussion be without some giveaways. I'll probably add more in the future to keep the discussion rolling.

Wishlisted and followed. One of the best puzzle/logic games I've seen lately is The Case of the Golden Idol. I tried the demo and I couldn't stop until I completed it,

I've heard good things about The Case of the Golden Idol, definitely one I'm going to check out. I'm also a sucker for good puzzle games. If I have to pull out a piece of paper and start figuring things out it's probably a game I'm going to love.

Your game looks really fun. I like both dogs and puzzles, so it was an easy decision to wishlist and follow!

I wish you good luck with the launch and everything. I've been wanting to make a game myself for a long time, but I'm too scared of everything except programming. Art and sound assets, music, steam release and distribution, possible legal issues or other unforeseen problems... Dealing with all that looks like too much hard work for too little gain. And that's not even counting the inevitable negative reviews. I'm glad there are brave people like you out there!

Thanks so much. Yeah for me as well, my normal day job is programming, albeit using more corporate / server type languages, so the hardest part of making a game for me has also been the creative stuff. The most creativity my job demands is occasional picking colours on a new module or a spreadsheet. Of course I made the 'smart' decision of making everything myself so it's been a learning experience of doing a lot of new things. But it has been fun, and if I'm honest even if no one else likes the game, I needed a creative outlet just so I don't feel like I'm wasting my whole life managing database driven applications behind the scenes.
And who knows, maybe once I'm done with this, I'll be in a position to collaborate with others and work on some other little projects. (Probably not as the lead artist though! Haha!)

love deductive stuff like this and I'm glad it's not another fucking cat game, so wishlisted for now. punctuation is missing all over the place, please fix that, and hopefully basic functionality won't be an issue (resolutions, windowed mode, separate volumes (especially if sfx is deliberately annoying for some fucked up reason), instant and silent text display, level select, exit button, etc.).

Thanks for the feedback. And yes I am also annoyed by those kind of things in games, so that has been one of the first things I tried to make sure works. So yeah there's level select, resolution options, volumes and all of that working in the game. It will also be sent around for beta testing a lot before final launch, so hopefully grammar and spelling issues are picked up.

Oh and there may be some cats in the game, but they serve only as the occasional antagonists to the dogs, who are the heroes. :-)

Yeah, sorry about the cats. I didn't want to, but coming up with 75 ideas for puzzles required some sacrifices.

There are some cats, but maybe I'll do a 'dark side' DLC with cats as the focus. :-)

That looks like an interesting puzzle game worthy to be followed. Congrats on being close to finishing this project!
Here's hoping that it does create some additional revenue and maybe motivates you to go down the game creator route. :)

Also, thank you for the great GAs!

Thanks so much! I guess if it makes a little money I won't complain, but ultimately it has been more for me to do something different and get out of my ruts. And maybe it will allow me to get into other projects as well.

Hi,

we have separate category for promoting games. I will thus move it to Game Showcase.
