Description

Celebrate for the start of a new decade!

--

This year, as Taiwanese, we will have our presidential election at 1/11.

Due to China's economic interference and the KMT party is getting closer to China government, the election is considered to decide Taiwan's future will be liberal democracy or communist dictatorship.

God bless Taiwan.

I understand your worry toward Taiwan's future, but let's be realistic: as long as USA doesn't want it, Taiwan's diplomatic situation will never change. Whoever becomes the president will not let Taiwan become more democratic nor more dictatorial. The point is the congress. I must say DPP is actually more dictatorial than KMT when they have over half the seats in congress, but KMT isn't anyway better. If I were you I would not vote DPP nor KMT's legislator candidate.

Let's be realistic, United States won't protect Taiwan's diplomatic situation if it against US's own benefit. If we don't make any effort, why should the rest of the world stand by our side?

KMT has stated that they "will" make a progress on the peace accords with PRC, considering the situation of Hong Kong, why wouldn't you think that it will let Taiwan become more dictatorial if they sign this peace accords which represent Taiwan is a province of PRC?

Yes, you don't like DPP because they are dictatorial, that is why I love our democracy, in a democratic system we can choose not to vote the party that we don't like.

I'm not a big fan of them, and I'm considering legislator candidate neither KMT nor DPP too, but saying that KMT and DPP are at the same level isn't quite right. At least, DPP still maintain our democracy system, not like KMT which eager to sell it to China for a good price.

Hmm, I never said USA would protect Taiwan's diplomatic situation. Taiwan won't be able to become a normal country, nor be part of China, as long as USA doesn't see it beneficial for them. So, it's pointless to vote for someone just because he/she said he/she would protect our democracy, or ROC.
So KMT "will" make progress on the peace accords with PRC? Then why DPP didn't make any progress on the law of forcing all accords with PRC to be revised by the Congress? DPP just know they have to leave something "undone" as a bait, so every time during the election they have something to sell.
Let's be honest, looking at the president candidates this time, DPP and KMT are trying to leave us NO CHOICE even when we have democracy. DPP maintaining the democracy system? Nah, it's just because they are being benefitted from it now so they keep it. Your should have known how DPP do the things when democracy is against them from last civil vote.
Taiwan's democracy is protected by all of us. DPP is not THAT great to protect our democracy.

Hmm, I never said DPP would protect our democracy.

Maybe you are right about not vote for someone because of he/she said, but I can't vote someone who can't speak out loud that "It is CHINA the country next to us threatening Taiwan / ROC.". DPP does leave something "undone". For me, the "undone" thing is that the major parties in this country are still KMT & DPP, aka China unification & Founding of Taiwan, after all, democracy just not work as dictatorship, it takes time to get consensus.

You don't like to be baited yet you still not willing to make these two parties change. Saying that DPP = KMT will not change the fact that this two parties remain majority in congress, but pointing out which party is worse will. There is no such a thing that two major parties in the country has divided diplomatic policy, economic policy, energy policy, and more yet still be the same to someone, unless he / she doesn't even care about politics. In my opinion, either DPP or KMT lost most of its elector will make some real changes to Taiwan, because nation security will ostracize others needs until then. And for now, I can't help but cry out "KMT is the worst!", that's all.

My bad, you didn't say that indeed.

Sure you can speak out loud that "It is CHINA that's threatening Taiwan/ROC" because you are lucky to not need to depend on China to earn money. What about the two million Taiwanese currently working/living in China? And don't forget almost 40% of our exportation is to China. If today we didn't depend on China and all and every Taiwanese is happy with the salary in Taiwan then sure we can speak out as loud as we wish, but for a president, he/she must consider all the people. Besides, DPP only speaks that out loud before election. After election they just go back with "maintain current status", so does speaking out loudly make any sense?

What Taiwan needs now is to concentrate on domestic problems. If Taiwan's salary unbalance, unemployment etc. were solved, more Taiwanese would not need to depend on China economically, and then we would have enough influence when we speak out loud, but not now. Doing that now is just forcing us to depend on USA even more and having to pay even more.

In my first comment I already said I would not vote for either DPP nor KMT's legislator candidate, that should be obviously enough that I don't want neither of them to have over half the seats in the Congress. How did you find this as "not willing to make them change"? Indeed, KMT is the worst, but the problem is DPP doesn't want KMT to disappear at all! As long as KMT is alive, DPP will never be the worst so both of them would not get better, just keep getting worse, so does it make any sense to say DPP is better than KMT in this situation? That's why I said they are leaving us NO CHOICE. I wish more people would just start voting those minor parties but looking at how many young people believing in "DPP = Taiwan Value, all the others = China Fellow", there is still a long way to make these two parties change, yet time is not in our advantage...

是說,用英文講政治很累啊... ^_^;
