Does the 1224 stand for your birthday? If so, did you get more gifts than normal, or get sort of shafted? I know some people that it went either way. ;)
It stands for my nameday, which is on 24th Dec. Most people know about it when they think a but, and almost everyone forgets about it, so I usually only get gifts from close family, everyone else is busy with Christmas :D
I think that's generally how it is for most people born on Christmas Day or shortly before or after. I guess it would cost a LOT of money to get the same amount of gifts for both special occasions, after all!
An itty-bitty saltiness is always in me about "how it's not a trouble for people celebrating their birthday/nameday in other times of the year?"
but then I usually realize that it's rare to get a good gift, so more wouldn't necessary mean better. Or that generally I don't like overcelebrated, so few people remembering and being genuine worth more than tons messaging me in a mass-post on facebook like some people usually do on namedays here. ( There is nothing more special about YOU than wishing you a happy day tagged in along with 8 other people)
So at the end of the day, it's fine. I have Christmas and Christmas season for my nameday and that makes is absolutely worth it, I love it :)
I find your attitude refreshing. I also like how you call it nameday instead of birthday, which is rare from where I live (Canada). It's not much, but here is a blue heart as a gift. :)
Thanks!
Though just to make it clear, in eastern Europe and maybe in some other region there are names associated with each date, so while I have a birthday, I also celebrate (to a lot less extent) my nameday - there's Adam's day on September 9th and December 24th (along with Eve). Peter is on April 29th and July 24th, Sylvester is on December 31th, and many, many-many others.
I think back in the day they really celebrated namedays instead of birthdays, and your first nameday came when you reached your "designated" day of the year. So me being born on dec 8th and being Adam, would have celebrated my first nameday at the age of 16 days :D Or born on 25th Dec? then 364 days until first nameday :P
HAPPY BIRTHDAY and Many Happy returns of the Day! 🥳 🎂 HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY
I hope that your upcoming year is full of love, joy, grace, mercy, and peace, health, and that you get what you most need (even if you don't yet know what that is!)
I'd give you a blue heart as a gift, but you're already there, so i cannot.
Pretty well! Finished masters last year, then after some struggle I got a job in the beginning of the spring covid-wave, and they liked me enough that kept me, so could move into a flat of my own in the summer :) A bit too much work recently, but the team is great, and that really matters in the long run. It feels great after many years that I can do silly things (within reason) like making a little prestige thing out of giving away the first copy of a great game (at full price, even if it's only €20) without really worrying about finances :D
In ways 2020 is the worst of recent years, but from my little bubble, it's one of the bests so far, I have tons of things to be happy, and thankful for.
Happy holidays 4 everyone :D
