Description

Friedenskirche

Head west to Schloss Sanssouci, or catch the X15 bus back to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

This church was designed by Frederick William IV in conjunction with architects. You can look up information about it here. There are fountains, statues, and of course gorgeous artwork inside. Underneath the chapel itself, is a tomb for the monarchs. Entrance is free, so feel to poke around.

Random Experience:

This was the direction I came the first time to the Park. We arrived here from Luisenplatz, which by the way, has its' own Brandenburger Tor. Yeah, I don't get it either, perhaps someone who knows will be able to answer that question. I didn't really pursue it. This was a great first stop on our walk and we easily spent an hour and a half or more wandering around it taking pictures. From here we headed up to Schloss Sanssouci, by taking the main path directly off Allee nach Luisenplatz. I recommend going in early Fall, before they've boxed up the statues, but as soon as the leaves start to drop from the trees. It was a pretty amazing walk and there were great piles of leaves that we could fall into. It was like snow... but pokey instead of cold.
