Logroño

Rest Day 2 - Monday, September 4th

< Stage 15 - Stage 16 >

The Area

Logroño is a multi-product, cultural, gastronomic, shopping and idiomatic destination. Its key attraction is wine tourism as the wine is covered by one of Spain's two only PDOs (Protected Designations of Origin) that guarantee excellent quality. But the wine cannot be separated from a first-rate agricultural product. Logroño was recognised as the Spanish Gastronomy Capital in 2012. Where can one try out all of this? In the capital's hundreds of bars and restaurants where customers can go to a different location every day of the year without ever repeating one. On the emblematic Laurel Street alone, there are fifty bars and sixteen restaurants, which hints at the area's wide and varied hospitality range. Eight of the most important Rioja wineries are found in this municipality. It is not a sun and sand destination, but rather one that seeks high quality tourism by offering: a Convention Centre, a Municipal Golf Course, a Contemporary Art Museum (Museo Würth), a natural park on the shores of the Ebro River and a Holy Week that is a Festivity of National Touristic Interest. It is also part of The Way of St. James, which leads us to think of a monumental city (churches, city walls, Jewry, historical city centre).
