Do you have to have knowledge of previous .hack games to enjoy this? I don't know anything about the series, and don't want to enter the giveaway if this is geared at existing fans.
From my knowledge, this is all three of the PS2 titles remastered and released as one bundle on new gen consoles and PC.
I looked at the steam store page now :
This collection includes all 3 original .hack//G.U. titles, Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption, all fully restored and remastered. As well as an all new exclusive 4th Volume: .hack//G.U. Reconnection.
So no you don't need to play the originals as this is their remastered editions plus a new one.
There are 4 original games and 3 G.U. games.
This collection has the 3 G.U. games and one new episode.
You don't have to play the original games to play G.U but there are maybe some references and recurring characters..

Looks like a really nice game. Should be won by a true fan, though, would be a shame if it wasn't played to the end.
