Dave Gilbert and Wadjet Eye Games have done a great job at bringing back the classic style of point and click adventure, whilst also adding their own take on adventure game atmosphere. The Blackwell series is a little bit film noir, and a little bit supernatural, with a lot of attention paid to the details that matter. I really enjoyed listening to all the commentary for this first game and hearing about how the different voice actors were selected. The indie spirit of the games comes across well, too. It's small, but it's polished, and it's good.

I thought this game on its own was only okay, but when played with the other two games in the original trilogy, they all fit together into one great narrative. It just gets better and better. So to anyone playing this, I would strongly encourage you to treat the entire trilogy as one game and play them all.

I've yet to finish out the trilogy, but really liked that the second game dared to change the formula up a little character-wise. Looking forward to finally finishing all three sometime, especially with a comment like yours. :)

Eum... there are five parts to the Blackwell series? Not just three? But you are right that you should play them all in order, since they all follow each other.

Haven’t played the last two but was under the impression they were much newer and separate, whereas the storylines of the original three linked together.

Appears the last two were released a bit later, but all five games are linked together and follow the same story. So basically you're missing the true ending to the franchise. They most certainly aren't separate games.

Also good to know on this end! I'd assumed the other two were just additional adventures as well, since I think the first three were always planned as a trilogy. (Unfortunately, I don't think I have spares of the final two games to give. :D)
