I don't know what to call it. It has a standard map with level selection, but some levels are huge metroidvania-style mazes larger and more deadly than other similar "small" games. And ofc, getting upgrades helps traverse them faster and access secluded areas.

Yes, thank you for the link. This one is difficult and tense experience, and the one you linked is much easier (but not completely easy!) and more linear experience. They can be enjoyed completely separately. Happy holidays!

First time anyone reported this. What do you mean by pause, pops-up a pause screen, or a little freeze, or...? Try restarting the game/computer first just in case.

So weird. Honestly, a first time I see that. This game can work on a toaster with DX11 gpu. Heck, it works perfectly on SteamDeck and ROG Ally. No way it should make such freezes on 4070ti. And yes, I've made this game - so I have access to all feedback from early alpha to this day.
From the top of my head, you could try going to the game folder, right click on exe then properties, and playing with the compatibility options to see if any will help, maybe disable full-screen optimization or... Do you have the latest drivers? If not, maybe try updating the drivers, direct x runtime (should be done through steam as a requirement, but maybe you can "fix" it manually) or something like that. If the game is on HDD try putting it on SSD (it's small) to see if that maybe helps.
Just remembered something. If you have a 3rd party antivirus like Avast, maybe it's scanning the game folder still/analyzing it while running with heuristics as it's a bit unknown widely - if so, this will go away on it's own after a while.

I've got every * on every map I could go to since then.
But I don't know where Secret3 is...
It's even possible that I found the location a month ago but didn't conquer it.
Perhaps I'm not in good shape and have lost the location by today.

If I'm not mistaken which one you're after, in "Rolling hills", at the very end, instead of entering the portal to finish the level, walk off the right edge and fall straight down into a secondary portal.
It would be easier if someone made a guide for new players...
