You are not allowed to enter a giveaway if you already own the game, I hope that is what you were asking.

yes i did,
i know that it's not allowed, but the thing is, people can still do it, and probably they won't get caught,
now, i also saw, there's an option for hiding games you already own, why is this an option? it should be a always on, don't you think?

People can technically do it, but if you do you'll be permanently banned.
And then you wouldn't be able to see what other people are giving. Steamgifts auto-syncs with your account every week so that your game list and what you can't enter stays pretty up-to-date, so permanently hiding games doesn't really make sense as a solution for a barely-existent problem.
Hope that answers your questions :)

oh good lord no. First of all, that'd be a LOT of data to process, and we don't want to go back to the dark days when SG was laggy as hell. Secondly, the sync requires your account to be public. People who like having their profile private just switch it, sync, and then switch it back once a week. Asking people to do that daily would be stupid.

well, why allow people to do it if you can block that option?
this is like, waiting for it to happen when you can actually block this from happening, and i'm pretty sure this is not a barely-existent problem.
there are so many giveaways, and you can't check everyone.

Of course you can't check every giveaway, but it is a comparatively rare problem. People making giveaways and then not delivering is far and above a bigger problem. The only way to effectively "block the option" would be for steamgifts to check your games every single time you entered a giveaway, which, I'm guessing, would probably break the site.
Basically, as it is now it's up to the creator of the giveaway to check the winner's games to see if they already own the game they won and if so request a reroll. It isnt perfect, but it works better than the other options.

Really? That sucks, I thought they were a little sooner than that. Like, you wouldn't get away with for very long. Guess they need more people to answer tickets?
edit: Waaaaait a goddamn second, the only thing you gifted was the ship. You do know that a lot of copies of the ship generated 2 more copies in someone's inventory right? It was stupid, but it looks like the person who won your giveaway activated it like they were supposed to, so technically they didn't do anything wrong. Person is pretty dumb/desperate though, doubt they got much, if anything, for the ship.

I know that and I give only one copy of the 2 pack the other one was used buy a friend that wanted the game, and I gived the not tradeable copy sending it throught e-mail, and if you see the game he/she won you can see 3 the ship ... I realiced that after sending the game, and I really felt like an idiot ...

So, if one's already own a specific game, can he still enter the giveaway for it?
