Public Steam data, such as your avatar, are automatically synced every few days. Private data, including your games, groups, and wishlist, are only synced automatically if you maintain a public Steam profile. If you choose to use a private Steam profile, you'll be required to briefly switch to a public Steam profile once a week to continue entering giveaways. This ensures all giveaway participants maintain up-to-date data, allowing them to only win games which they do not already own.
