Ok, so Im planning to migrate my current hard drive partition and everything on it (OS, games) to 1(2 if I get lucky) TB hard drive. Here's problem: I HAVE NO INTERNET at home, so backup and restore/redownload everything isnt exactly option for me. Is there ANY(preferably legal) way for me to migrate all of steam games I have installed on my current hard drive without internet (cant bring my desktop to friends house/library either). Im pretty sure that Ill be using some kind of drive/OS cloning software (at least thats what my friends tell me). Really dont want to get banned by steam because of this, bought all my games legally.

Your friends are correct. You can use a LiveCD like Clonezilla to clone your disk.

just copy the SteamApps folder in and paste in the new location after reinstalling steam in the new setup.. Your data need not be redownloaded

but he needs internet to log in to his account the first time... so cloning should be the way to go.

I tried, and the games won't appear in your library.

You have to redirected the folder where you install games. I mean on steam, you have to show steam where you have those games...

If you have a cellphone with a 3g connection, you can connect it to the pc and use internet (useful for the first time login and all that stuff, just in case you want to create backup copies of your games even if you don't have internet acces). Or, you can just clone your disk, as your friends say.

I recently did this and used macrium to clone my 320 gb hard drive to a 2 TB hard drive. Was pretty simple and had no problems.
