I am visiting my parents this week and therefore won't be able to game for this whole week ... Never in my life did I want to game so much.
So I just need something to busy myself with in the evenings (except drinking). Suggest me some movies please?
If anyone tries suggesting me stuff like Twilight or any hollywood romance movie ... I will personally find you, come to your house and punch you. I'm serious.

Just so you know what I am looking for, I like movies like:

  • Hard Candy
  • Memento
  • Leon: The Professional
  • Lucky Number Slevin
  • Rock'n'Rolla
  • The Machinist

Yeah, that's the movies I can think of right now ... So, any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch

If you don't mind subtitles (or speak any Asian languages) then you should check out some Asian films. They have some great martial arts/fighting films.
Red Cliff, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, 13 Assassins. Red Cliff is my personal favourite.

Hm... I watched No Country For Old Men (not subtitles) recently, that was pretty good.
I'll probably try to update this whenever I think of some films.

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (got a prequel recently, haven't see it though)

Nah, I don't care if it's a movie with subtitles. I can remember watching an Asian Thriller a few years back about a female teacher who put some HIV infested blood into the milks of her pupils, because two of them were like responsible for the death of her daughter ... I sadly forgot the name of the movie, if anyone knows I'd be happy if they could tell me

You can add :

• A Bittersweet Life (my personal fav)

• The Man From Nowhere

• Ip Man (Martial Arts at his finest)

• The Raid Redemption (probably my fav action/martial art movie, well until... The Raid 2 :D)

That's about what comes to my mind right now.

Also i recently enjoyed Man Of Tai Chi (Martial Art) but it's not as amazing as the others.

I really need to check out more of these. I'll be watching your favorite pick very soon, thanks!

Someone with the same taste :3 A Bittersweet Life is really good indeed, I usually don't rewatch movies all that much but I did so for this one, a lot. The Man From Nowhere is also really good yeah, and to add another of Kim-Jee-Woon's films: I Saw The Devil. More focused on the gore part and I like A Bittersweet Life more, but still a good watch. Same goes for his The Good, The Bad and The Weird though that one is in a entirely different category

Deadman don't let johnny depp starring in it scare you away, its a really cool movie by jim jarmusch with a great score by neil young. Looking at what you don't want "Twilight or any hollywood romance movie" made me think of True Romance its not hollywood romance but i guess you could call it a romance movie, i wouldn't say its romantic tho, just read the description. Also, its got a lot of pretty funny cameo/bit parts of famous actors like gary oldman and brad pitt.
The boondook saints is a pretty cool movie too and would kinda fit in with the movies you like, plus its got Daryl from the walking dead, how can you go wrong there.

Some great recommendations here. Another great film by the guy who wrote and directed Dead Man is Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and it's streaming on Netflix right now (along with Dead Man). I think all of these movies are right down OP's alley.

If you like comedy and have no problem with British humor, check out the "Cornetto Trilogy"... Basically:

Shaun of the Dead

Hot Fuzz

The World's End

Real fun movies, but I definitely love Hot Fuzz the most out of the 3 of them. Also, they're definitely better seen without spoiling yourself of any details.
