I am visiting my parents this week and therefore won't be able to game for this whole week ... Never in my life did I want to game so much.
So I just need something to busy myself with in the evenings (except drinking). Suggest me some movies please?
If anyone tries suggesting me stuff like Twilight or any hollywood romance movie ... I will personally find you, come to your house and punch you. I'm serious.

Just so you know what I am looking for, I like movies like:

  • Hard Candy
  • Memento
  • Leon: The Professional
  • Lucky Number Slevin
  • Rock'n'Rolla
  • The Machinist

Yeah, that's the movies I can think of right now ... So, any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch

Pulp Fiction, or pretty much all Tarantino films.

It's nothing like the movies you listed but if you want to change things up, Spaceballs is one of the best movies ever made. =P

Too much hollywood in here. Go check the rest of the world. The classics, cults and blockbusters of some country your average neighbour doesn't even know how to spell the name of.

I liked the Danish film better. It's worth checking if you're interested in a different take on the story. Same writer as The Hunt, which was nominated for an Oscar this year. This film also got a bunch of awards.

The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty are both great films. I put off watching both of them for so long. Probably one of the best directors out there right now.

If you like Kathyrn Bigelow's movie, check out Near Dark, quite an interesting vampire movie that's often overlooked. It's a mini-Aliens reunion (3 cast members are in both) and Bill Paxton steals the show.

I love Bill, so I'll definitely be checking that one out. You should watch Frailty (he's in it) if you haven't already.

Cabin In The Woods (as much as it seems like a crappy horror movie give it a minute, it turns wild sci-fi)

Butter (I used to sell dvds, I gave a personal money back guarantee on this movie, never had any returns)

John Dies At The End (he 'dies' in the middle, but its visual insanity and hours of soy sauce references...the sauce)

Oh and if you want to see what a drama/love story is supposed to look like check out Sparrows Dance.

Great film indeed! If you liked that you should probably check out The Chaser (streaming as well). It's based on a true story too, didn't realize that until after I watched it. Anyone else have any recommendations for some other foreign crime thrillers?

(other than Oldboy lol)

South Koreans have amazing movies at every level, just check their top 100 movies or so and prepare some korean food to go with it, bring your friends around, enjoy !

If you check the movies on imdb you'll have a dozen similar movies showed, than in turn show similar movies to themselves, plus checking the actors and directors you like shows all their movies as well...

A Bittersweet Life would be my Korean recommendation; same director and main actor as I Saw The Devil, but even better in my honest opinion! :)

You can't go wrong with any Christopher Nolan movie; I see you've already seen Memento and I can assume that you've already seen Inception and the Batman trilogy, so I'd really recommend watching the Prestige. Good Burger is a good movie if you wanna go the comedy route. I may think of some more and write them here later on but I gotta go to bed.

+9000 for everything...well your 8/10 can be slightly generous but everything looks great in general.

Also love it that there's someone other than me who loves The Man from Earth!

My ratings r always adjusting, some of the ones i rated 8 maybe be 7 another time, or possibly a 9 (infact Moon probably deserves a 9 more than an 8)... But overall most movies i watch get a 6/10, so to get 8 or more its something special.

Oh and yeah 'The Man from Earth' is great :) so much done with so little.

Primer.

I'm not going to give you the IMDB link, or any reviews or trailers, but I can't recommend it enough. You can rent it on Amazon Instant Video for $3. If I tell you what it's about, it'll ruin a very nice surprise. It's worth 80 minutes of your time.

Streaming on Hulu+ and Hitbliss as well. Hitbliss is a service that allows you to gain credit by watching commercials. If you liked Primer you should check out Upstream Color. Same director/writer but it came out 9 years after Primer. Upstream Color is streaming on Netflix and Hitbliss
