I am under the impression that these keys (or whatever they are) are only for people who have recently bought Radeon cards. If that isn't the case, how does one go about trying to get one? (I say "try" because it is obvious that making the attempt is similar to trying to swim in a pool filled with piranha.)

In your eagerness to answer my question, you seem to have left out some important information.
1) Where does one find the code?
2) Are there any actions you need to perform before you can access the code?
3) Once you've accessed (read) the code, how do you redeem it?
4) What kind of time constraints (if any) are there for redeeming the code?
(I don't blame you, however, seeing as how the official site isn't clear, either.)

1) That's what they are giving away. 250 copies of that code every week. 500 more left (so two more batches).
2) Just register for free on the website OP posted and be there on time. Click on the button on the right and if they have any left, you will get one code.
3) Go here, click on 'Redeem your game', make a free account, choose two games you want. You will get the game codes instantly (Thief is the exception, you will get the code for that once the game is released).
4) You have until April 30 to redeem the code you get from alienware arena.

I got one but I have all games except Thief (I'll take this of course) and Grid (meh). There should be a change in the game list on 01/04 and Thief offer is valid until 30/04. I should wait to maybe get a second game I'll play but I'm also curious to play Thief...
