Hi everyone. My first giveaway finished at 9am this morning. I added the winner as a friend on steam and comment on his/her profile but he/she is not responding or accepting my friend request. He is online at the moment and sometimes plays games, but ignores me. What will i do now? Is there a time limit before we send gifts?

And how can you know if he was joking? And even if it was joke,it was an inappropriate one.Let's hope that his suspension will discourage a few jokes of this kind, the mods have done the right thing. He's not going to be suspended forever, don't worry, maybe for 1-2 weeks.

I don't think he is ignoring your invite. Try to block him then unblock him and add him again, I have had this bug and I did this and it always worked. And you can send a gift through email too.

I blocked him, but there was no option to unblock. Then i added him as a friend. "Friend invite sent." windows appeared, but invitation is not appearing in my friend list. Is he still blocked now?

In the steam web interface, go to your friends page and click the blocked user tab. You can see blocked people from there and unblock them.

I sympathize with you. It can be really frustrating when you are unable to enter those contributor giveaways and it's beyond your control. It'll work out eventually. Once it has been a week, then you can do something about it.

Giveaway ended 4 hours ago, don't be so exagerated, he may not realize that has won a giveaway/ omit comments it at the moment.
Also he doesn't must accept you, you can send the gift by e-mail. What will make you automaticly friends. But he may remove you seconds later.

This. Had winners not responding for days because they didn't know they won (Wait even with the big green alert at the top of every page??? - yeah, I know...)

wait for two days, if he does not respond, reroll. You told you would add the winner when giveaway ends after all, right?

edit: due to FAQ it should be 7.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Right, i told it. Thanks for advice. I'll wait 2 days then.

This is NOT an enforceable rule in public giveaways nor private/group giveaways for that matter, as I highly doubt any of the mods would allow the grace period to send/receive gifts to go below 7 days.
You'll just be wasting the mods and your own time requesting a re-roll in 2 days.

You are everything wrong with humanity. Stop giving advice if you're talking out of your arse. We will never reroll after two days for not responding and we get incredibly annoyed at the many people who do. Read the FAQ.

From the FAQ, please be awesome and read it:

  • The submitter and winner(s) of the giveaway have seven (7) days to complete the gifting process. This includes the activation of the gift on the Steam account of the winner.

Thanks everyone. You are absolutely right. Rerolling is not a solution, i can't just take away his chance. I'll wait 7 days.

YOU WOULD BE RIGHT IF THE WINNER WAS 'IDLE'. HE'S ONLINE, IGNORING THE OP AND PLAYING GAMES INSTEAD

That's why it's a different scenario.

Well instead of playing games and ignoring he should at least check the friend requests.

So yea, I'm still behind after my opinion. You should have learned to respect other people's opinions from your parents/friends/school.

I've played and left invites sit for weeks, because sometimes, I want to play a game. I know, I know, who does that on Steam these days?

And be behind what you said all you want. You're still absolutely wrong and will be under no circumstances reroll a giveaway because of that. It doesn't matter what your opinion of the rules is. They're the rules and they're there for a reason. You should have learned to obey the rules from your parents/friends/school.

The fact I want to play a game does not change the other fact that the request pops up from the window if I'm playing/giving me a green notification on steam main screen.

I consider the current situation as a disrespect to the gifter. After all, winners should also have some responsibilities, right?

Maybe I'm wrong due to FAQ, but is the winner right?

And which part of this (concerning also about the gifter, which still spends his precious time to deal with this) makes me an 'everything wrong with humanity'?

You realise the request only shows once, right? Meaning you can miss it if you're not looking at your PC at the time. If you never look at your client or your friends list, you may never notice the request, ever.

Lolz, at least send him a mail you added him on steam to accept your gift.
And yes, you have to wait at least 7 days before even thinking of a re-roll.

Cheers

I understand the frustration and I'm currently waiting for response as well. The recipient was last online 1 day ago. I wish I could get the transaction finished as soon as possible but I never thought about not waiting for the 7 days.
