In gala,u have more chances to win, cause there are far less people entering the lottery.I actually won there 2 times and in here zero time.Sure u might say my rng sux here but thats not the case, its all about people using it,which are few there. And to think i even giveaway here, while i could certenly support gala for its biddings

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

Giving games away does not mean you are rich. In fact I'm pretty sure that almost everyone here on SG could contribute, let's say 3$ of TOTAL money SPENT in a monthly or bimonthly basis.

That's less than one of those bundles. And don't play the everyone who gives things away is rich, because that's a idiotic statement if I have ever seen one.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You would have to gain any type of level yet.

Bundles cost ALMOST nothing, and i'm not rich either. What kind of baseless claim is that? People have average income and give for the sake of making other people happy. You're just a whiner, coming here and whining about how you win nothing despite your $1 bundle game.

If you didn't get it by now, let me explain my statement further.
Contributing =/= 100% winning anything, but you show people your commitment and might get into groups, which will rather increase your chances of joining GA with lower entry numbers (yet many of them require CV) and thus increase the chances of winning.

You disqualified yourself, yet i'm ready to listen to your bullshit despite your moronic "oh god look at me i'm a contributor but steamgifts didn't give me anything in return" behavior.

I gave,and i didnt get anything,in here i have participated in 550 giveaaways,in there i have participated at 160 gaveways.In here i won zero times.In there i won 2 times.

Whats wrong with the mentality of my statements?

1 decade ago

Give to get is trading which is different from SG's philosophy.
You either have really bad luck or there's something wrong with the way you're using this site (or both combined).

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

What i meant again is to give,if i have, and later expect to eb given back, either from luck or other means, dont know
You can see my statements are true for the giveaways entered as for the giveaways that i have given(1 so far, that one could afford). Then blaming me for not using the site at its best, when is a click away from every giveaway,is lame excuse. You know how to "use" the site better?Advice me then. What i say is not irrational, and if i bring the cahnces down,it favours galagiveaways,as i said at least for me.

Only if you pass the $2K mark or whatever it is now. I think it's safer to assume that you get better chances out of 1H giveaways now (300-ish entries, sometimes 100-200) than if you joined a high-contrib GA that lasts for 1-2 days (350-450 depending on $).

Just look at that dropoff. You'd think it'd be bigger given that there's a whopping $200 difference.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ofcourse there is a dropoff, but to get to the point i can give 500%,I dont think its mandatory for me to get this kind of better chances.Sure i am motivated by it,i gaveaway my first game yesterday and i would plan to get to giveaway more, but stating my chances of here vs there,is true also, and w/o this kind of heavy contribution.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not mandatory. Most of the better chances are now relegated to private GAs, groups or puzzles though, so if you want to win, you're better off focusing on those than entering public-only GAs. Most of these exclusive GAs are only set to $30.01 usually.

Boosting contribution to get into GAs is probably the worst route right now in terms of won to spent value ratio; even if you spam Crazy Machines.

my point was related with multiplying x10 the entries

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you want bundle keys, Desura keys, or cheap games from other promotions, then GG is indeed a better choice, but you won't find a lot of Skyrimz there (once I saw a Bioshock Infinite giveaway, but it costed like 50k points per entry, not to mention the "extra odds" thing).

I don't mean those games are not good, but you should consider that SG has a far bigger variety of games.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

While true that there is a greater variety here,if i get down the chances when that 50k point happens, still i would have better chances there.Sorry that i cannot explain it far more simple than i can,but i cant see calling that site shitty when it actually provides more(at least for my point of view)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you chose the "play GA 10x" option, it actually 500k points, and you still have like ~0.50% chance to win. Just imagine how many refills/bundle purchases it takes to get those points back. (Btw I see where you're coming from, just wanted to add this.)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There is a little trick of giving points on deals that ends 6 days later and then when time arrives just cancel them to get your points back.In that way i could have as many points as i would need in theory, even on big bundles:P.I say in theory cause i havent done that yet:P Also if you see where i come from you must understand the situation here:)

1 decade ago

Yeah, given how their system of points works it definitely falls into that IMO but eh, whatevs. On the flip side, I bank points here all the time but that's different because you can't set a GA for more than 150pts anyway so any user can eventually get enough points.

Well the site is kinda lame.
Everything is thrown together with no actual concept and some blatant copy-paste.
The general design is pretty poor and the JS code not optimized, which is why the site feels sluggish (I bet 50 bucks, their database server cries for mercy).

At this point i'd rather give props to gameminer or playblink.

I log in from time to time to burn my points and that's actually it.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

GM actually has quite a variety of games and the odds of winning are better than here. And i am starting to like their idea of Level rather than contributor value. If i donate 10 bundles bta here i get nothing, there I get a small exp. If I really want to level up faster, I create a giveaway of a steam gift, prefferably a wanted game and get a lot of exp. It helps both people who cannot afford to make an expensive giveaway a chance to evolve, and also to real gifters to get high level faster by offering great games

Well, after checking the FAQ, I'm not entirely sold on GalaGiveaways' trade section. For starters, you must pay points to post a trade (and I do see how this can cut down on spam, making this an advantage over SteamTrades). However, I'm annoyed that you can only make offers for one game at a time. Also, it's essentially set up just like their giveaway section (I actually thought that I landed in the giveaway section on a slow day), and I kept getting relocated to the actual giveaways page. So yeah, I probably won't use Gala Giveaways Trade for a good long while, if at all.

Or:

$1 = $20 contribution value

$500 = can see private giveaways on the front page

$1000 = can join closed groups
