So pretend you have every current gaming console, along with a maxed out gaming PC. Assume that price doesn't matter.

Now, assume you're going to buy two games that are releasing between now and December 31st, 2016.

What two games would you buy, and why?

(in case you need a list of what is releasing, see this list on Wikipedia.)

Total Warhammer

Because it might be the last chance for TW to be good again

Aww come on, we can forgive some missteps on TW's part. We did get Shogun 2! And Rome 2 wasn't shabby.

I actually didn't like Shogun 2; I preferred Rome 2. But it's been going downhill ever since Rome/Medieval II

They also have a team working on another historical title, plus Arena was decent (at least in beta). I think TW is alright, even tho Rome was by far my favourite.

I prefer Medieval II, but they're pretty much the same game

New Deus Ex and The Fractured But Whole.
Mankind Divided has some great themes and seems to be coming along nicely.
The Fractured But Whole is fucking hilarious.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided, is the only one i really want
http://store.steampowered.com/app/337000/agecheck#

have played the previous game many hours, and find it amusing to try and finish the game, by being lethal, stealthy or other....

Dishonored 2 and Detroit: Become Human

I was going to say Horizon Zero Dawn but I think it just got delayed till 2017. RE7 is a runner up

Deus Ex 4 and FFXV.

I've been thinking of getting FFXV too, but after playing Episode Duscae and the Platinum Demo I'm getting a bit worried that the combat system is going to be really repetitive :/

Except for the XIII trilogy, every FF's combat system was repetitive (and even in XIII, you needed some self-control to not overlevel and have only some challenge at the bosses). And simplistic. So in this regard, I don't think it'll matter too much, if they can deliver in writing.

That is true. I guess I just expected more since it's now real-time action combat - I don't know that story is enough to pull me through it. It sounds like it will be great for you though!

Since I like XIII and rate it as my second favourite of the series after VI, I think it will. :)
When it gets released on PC and I can afford it.

Yeah, I loved the music in XIII, and enjoyed the characters/story, but man, I felt like the gameplay was a drag and there was a severe imbalance between cutscenes and gameplay. I was unable to finish it.

+1 but I am afraid that a PC version of FFXV will not release this year :(

Permalink

This. SE developed games take a quite long time to be ported to PC. But seeing that FF Type 0 HD didn't take long enough to be ported last year, XV shouldn't take too long to be ported either, as it is currently really hyped. Here's hoping that it'll be released by the middle of next year.

Civ 6 and South Park. Because I don't think we will see Original Sin 2 this year.

FIFA 17 because I know I'd play the crap out of it. Also, probably Dead Rising 4.

Well most of them are just ports to other platforms fromalready released games.
From completely new games I'd go for Civ 6 and FFXV

All I recongnise from that list is;

BioShock: The Collection
Dishonored 2
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Mafia III
No Man's Sky
Syberia 3
Watch Dogs 2

So I would have to go with Dishonored 2 and Mafia III, simply because I have do not yet have\have not played Divinity 1, Siberia 1&2 or Watchdogs 1. If it were two games I do not already own, now that would be a lot easier\more definite.

It'd have to be Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Civilization 6. New iterations in two of my absolute favorite game series.

well, since Ghost Recon: Wildlands wont be out til next year, I say Mafia 3, and Battlefield 1 (It was a tough choice between that and Watch dogs 2, but WD2 comes out in November, figure I could wait a few months to play it.)

No Man's Sky because I've been waiting for a game like that for my whole life, and Abzû because it looks beautiful and I can't wait to hear Austin Wintory's incredible music again.

This! Not much else is really coming out this year…

Divinity:OS 2 could be interesting, but I didn't even buy the first one yet, so there are probably some more years before I need to care about the sequel.

dishonored 2 for sure, but i suspect deus ex 2 to be underwhelming with another super unsatisfying ending just like the first one. I dont think ive ever seen anything like the first games ending before... heres a machine, press a button to pick which ending you want... i mean what the fuck was that?? Im not expecting a whole lot more from a developer who thought THAT was a brilliant way to end a game.
