To be honest though, I don't feel I gave Dawn of Discovery a fair shake, only playing to the 4th or 5th mission in the campaign.

Do you feel I would enjoy Anno 2070 if I took more time to play one of its predecessors?

Would Anno 2070 be worth a buy anyway?

Anno 2070 is okay. Overhyped, but still fun. Never heard of Dawn of Discovery, so I cannot help you there. But I'd recommend it at its current price.

Dawn of Discovery is also known as Anno 1404.

Did not know that.
Okay, well if you enjoyed 1404, 2070 is basically the same, but set in 2070.

Does it have a sandbox mode?

That's the only mode I've played.

I would not recommend that purchase. Maybe it will be worth it if you can find the game + all DLC for no more than $5. But if you didn't like the previous game you're better off playing something else entirely.

Anno 2070 in my opinion is still the second best game of the franchise (1602 is the best ofc.). But the price at Steam is ridiculously high.
